I have heard on the grapevine that there will be an AGM this Saturday to elect officials for the BKC. Can someone confirm this and if this is true tell me why members were not notified. Why has it not been posted on seabreeze, facebook etc or emailed directly to members. I am sure you have to give ample notice to all members so they have every opportunity to attend and cast their votes. ?????
EDIT What period of time is required in the constitution to call an AGM to elect committee members. It usually is two or three weeks as far as i know. Is it possible to view the constitution for the BKC?
G'day Neil , Brisbane Kite Club has posted the AGM as an event on their Facebook page for tomorrow 19-3-11 at 1:00pm at Brighton beach , see you there ,,, Grant s
Neil , I have just contacted brisbane kite club and have been informed that it will be a meeting & election , I did ask about event postings as well and was told that members should have been notified by newsletter about 3 weeks ago , I have raised the point that more notice needs to be given about upcoming events and that should be raised tomorrow at the meeting , hope that helps ,,,
Once again thanks Grant. Their AGM notification was listed at 5.30pm yesterday on facebook. As my son and daughter and myself are members i would expect to get notification of this AGM. I have also contacted several other members who had no knowledge of this meeting. As this is a fairly important meeting i think it should be postponed until the majority of members can be contacted. The more members at the meeting the better chance you have of getting the right mix on committee.
I would be interested to know how many non committe members had notification of this meeting.
Sorry Neil read below
The Planned AGM for the Kite Club will have to be adjourned to a later date as I have just been informed there may have been a mix up with the notification to all members, that and the fact that the weather and wind is on the downward slide,we are not expecting a big enough turn out to get the numbers for an AGM.
The notice will be sent to all Brisbane Kite Club financal members notifing all parties of the proposed new date and venue for the AGM. I apologise for any inconvienience this may have incured, there is no use calling a AGM unless all members are notified. We will still be putting on a fund raising BBQ if the rain holds back ..
