There was talk of a kite club being formed in Brisbane called the Brighton kite club. Is this a reality or has it been shelved. Does anyone have any info.

Do we really need a club? Is it easier just to keep it Simple and use AKSA/SEQKA?

Yes we need a club.
It is a local chapter of SEQKA so makes little difference.
What it does do is put a bit of control in local hands and ease the burden on the SEQKA administrators.

I think its a great idea. Not to mention the SEQKA side of things it is a good social outlet for people who are new to the area and the sport alike.
