We used to have a contact in the tower.. Kiter Ben?? Haven't seen him in a long time though.
Just an update on this cam. I spoke to Ben, who still kites, and like a lot of us, doesn't get out as often as one would like! The signal tower is now un-manned, so I guess not as easy to get things done on the webcam, as possibly before. He is going to try and talk to the right people and see whether it can be aimed to the previous position, so as part of North Haven beach is shown as well. Apparently, it's a very popular camera because of big ships coming and going, as well as for the water sport users, like us. Many years ago, I put a camera up at my local surf club, which is Seacliff. Over time, it has been pretty good, but suffers from poor broadband at the club. The current cam is a temporary analogue one because the normal HD digital failed, but hopefully will be replaced soon. It's getting over 4000 hits a month, so has been great for bringing some extra business to the club.
