Hi all, just seeing if there is info about kiteable areas in Adelaide as I will be there for work
Last thread I could find was in 2008 saying Glenelg is banned, also near airport
What are the good local spots (waves preferred)

I'm no expert on waves but the wave spots are generally best mid to south coast SA. here is a link to the South Central Kite Boarders spots page; www.southcentralkiteboarders.com/page-3.html

and here is a link to a site I found that has a good map page with interactive info for other spots all around SA (and WA and VIC);
www.rapture.zone/

Popular local spots are Largs Bay (Ride Kitesurfing school runs lessons out of here mostly), Semaphore, Mirani Court (also known as Chicken Shop), Ozone Reserve, West Beach, Seacliff

Thanks Pete, looking at local spots initially, so you can kite at West Beach which is great despite being near the airport? Seems like the wind comes in a bit more in the northern beaches of Adelaide?

Hey hey, you can kite on any metro beach, including west beach. 'Beat' spots for waves locally are west beach and Henley (ozone reserve). You can get to west beach launching from Ozone, depending on wind direction and speed.
'proper' waves, you need to go to the mid-coast or south coast. However, summer, there aren't many waves around.

anywho, the community in South Australia is super friendly. When you get to a spot, just approach any kiter to chat about spots and off you go.

see you around the beach. I generally kite around semaphore park, which can get some fun waves hip height with the occasional chest height 'bomb' ??

these days I wear a black mystic helmet, come say hi if you see me
