My girl friend and I have just moved to WA and we are looking to get into kiting... I have been told something different depending on the shop I go to... What are the better/safer kites 5 lines or 4 lines or 4 lines with a bridle for beginners... I wy about 98 kgs and my girl friend is about 55 kgs. We have been looking a Airush Flow 07, North Rebel 07 or I also saw Liquid Force M-80 06 7mtr and 9mtr would that be any good for my girlfriend...
Thanks for the help!!!
its going to be a big if not impossible stuggle getting u both on kite. Your girlfriend would need a 9 max and your prolly a 12.
Definitely look at getting a bridled C kite, or more specifically an sle type. The rebels are great kite but prolly a bit difficult to relaunch as a beginner. The Flows a great beginner to advanced kite.
for me
4 line c kite - least safe
5 line c kite - no differance in safety, except your more inclided to releash to safety because it doesnt creat a mess.
4 line bridled c kite - safest, but really depends on kite specifics. bar setup and bridle setup.
Yep your weight means there's no way you can share kites in the same wind range.
I agree with Carbine, you'd be a 11/12, She'd be a 7. 9 might be a bit big.
As for kites, if you go new then any model will probably suit. Bow's have a bit more of a wind range. 5 line C kite or go for a SLE or bow (depends on the manufacturer if it's 4 or 5 line - all are pretty good safety wise).
Just go chat to some of the guys at your local spot and see what they're flying.
Ive been getting good feedback on the new north rebels
huge wind range
great safety
good kite to learn on
no pulleys so you get a direct bar feel
great depower
im personally going to be on the north vegas' this season
but im getting my dad onto the rebels (his learning)
12m would be your best 1 kite solution for you
and the 7m for your girl
theres plenty to pick and choose from though at the end of the day!
hope that helps a little![]()

Thanks for the response... I m planing on getting two kites 1 for me and 1 for my girlfriend ... Just trying to work out the best ones for each off us... Would a Liquid force M-80 7mtr and/or a 9mtr be suitable for my girlfriend? Where is a good place for lessons?
personally I wouldnt recommend the M80
but yes a 7m would be a good size for the lady
for you your probably looking at a 12m
try find a decent kite that is going to give you a good wind range
something like the north rebel (there reasonably priced too)
depends where you are over in WA i guess. I know fulltilt is a little south of perth
but thats about it. ask around cause im sures theres plenty of spots
you could get taught![]()
