Hello All
A newbie as many others having problems chosing between the many types of kite. Can understand from other reviews that the Naish boxer is a quite a safe choice.
What about parafoil kites like Peter Lynns Venom??? Can this kite be recommended![]()
Thanks
G'day Buddy,
I strongly reccomend that if you are a beginner then you will either want a slingshot deisel or a peter lynn venom... with the venom, it is a foil kite, no pumping required, it is brilliant for high lift, and unlike tube kites when you get into trouble let go of the bar, and the kite will go directly above your head and stop you.
If you are on the east coast ring kiteworks in newcastle, and talk to Lachlan Bead.. He is a champ and will get you sussed out without ripping you off for top dollar on products, he is the kinda guy that wants to see more people get into it and enjoy..
the only thing is though like me when i started, is do you want to be able to do tricks, high airs or both... cause then you can sus out a kite from there. with the venom, it is a better begginners kite, becasue it won't get trashed as much as the crossbow, or gksonic, or slingshot deisel will.
just call kiteworks in newcastle for more information,

All the new kites are pretty sage (5th line kites - or equvilent safety features)
I suggest you have a look at what is mostly flown in your area (Brand Wise) as that makes it easier to sell later... but don't just buy what everyone is flying, because that will be the high AR kite that is not the best beginner kite... get a beginner kite in that brand... Reason probably is that the shop that sells those kites is giving the best price/service.
But more importantly than your kite... get a couple of decent lessons... I know it is geekish, but believe me, at least 30% of new kiters break something/badly hurt something when the unexpected happens...
Good luck and welcome! IT is a great sport
