just curious as to which f-one kite
people prefer for freestlye riding
if the tribal II looking good
or will the Impact be a good option?
the new impact that is
Cheers
Nathan
The New Tribal has got more direct in it's feel, which was a difference in 06 between them and the Impact.
for 07 the Impacts are only small sizes and use the same line set as Tribal. So what size you want will make the choice for you.
However availability in Australia will be Mainly Tribals, and Rivals.
Dachopper seems to be enjoying his freestyling on the new Tribals.
Thanks RAL
yeah been struggling to find any info on the new impacts
but thanks for lettin us know their only in small sizes
only heard good things about the tribal IIs
so pretty keen to get my hands on some
cheers

I had a very good sesh on the 11m Tribal second edition yesterday..
wind was 19-23 kts and pretty consistent, unhooked back kiteloops were pretty controllable, as was unhooking for some bottom turns etc on the crappy waves that were coming through. Had the kite set powered up. I also ride the same kite in around 15 kts with the same board and can get enough power to do any of the powered freestyle moves. so it looks like 15 - 23kts atleast is definately freestyle kiteable and good to go for anything.
Then today took it out again today , this time with the 5th line and front lines depowered 1 knot...wind was 24-28 kts and the tribal was pulling less than my 9 metre impact with the bar out, I $h!t you not!
I wasn't game to try the kiteloops in 28kts on the 11 although it was more because of the monster slop that was rolling in everywhere making the water lumpy as, but the kite itself flew the same as it does in 15 kts, even when depowered that much, ie steering etc, is still as responsive, jumps and hangtime are massive too. I would say that even at the 25-26kt mark it would be comfortable to unhook although any ensuing undesirable kite looops will find you going pretty quick , pretty high up.
Overall after having it a few months now I would say it has more depower than the 06 impact and is very suitable and forgiving for freestyle!
I can't wait to try it in the smaller sizes for the Docter!![]()

Dachopper sh!ts you not
I tried this kite along with some friends in less than 15knots(downwind on a 13m waroo pro and nobile skim, nice gear) anyway the 11m kite seem happy to accept everyones kiteloop wishes. This kite almost begged you to loop it
even when sining the kite the bar pressure was fine and no hint of lag on the upturn. I currently ride a vegas6 12 and found it to do everything the vegas does plus the lighter bar pressure and increased low end and responsiveness was a massive plus,
Again I'm not associated with these guys and pay for my own gear,
Enjoy
Matt
Hey guy's, What do you guy's weigh, I have a 06 9mtr Tribal(and love it) and I'm looking at purchasing a 11 or 13 Tribal II,can't decide. I'm about 80 kg at the momment, but may get down to around low 70's soon. ?
Doople, Im around 77 kg's and have a 13 and an 11 tribal II,
The 13 tribal II is a low wind beast (it's my biggest kite), it will give you as much pull as most other 15+'s with the speed of a smaller kite. Again, I have back looped the 13 up to around 18 - 20kts, and thats about when it starts to get Really powered up. But you could hold it if you wanted to 25 - 30 ( i wouldn't ever kite loop it over 25)
I usually go straight from my 13 to my 9 when it hits around 18 kts cause the 11 gets used by some1 else. If your after a complete wind range and you allready have a 9 the 13 would be my pic , but if you generally don't bother going out in 12 kts, and get alot more 15 -25 kt winds I would go the 11.
bottom line is if your getting one to ride in light winds get the 13, if your getting one and winds are mediuim 15kts +, I enjoy riding the 11 more because of it's versatility and like it more than the 13 because of it's faster speed. The good thing about these kites is they all feel the same and fly very similar in the different sizes.
PS the black colours scheme looks sic!
Nick
I'm also around 75kgs although the others that were riding it that day were a bit lighter(55 and 65 i think) and seemed to be staying upwing on an airush exile,
Thanks
Matt
Dopplegranny,
you're too old to handle the grunt of a 13m Tribal.
stick with the original plan and go the 11m.
use the SB for days just to light for the 11.
I know you worry about how much longer the SB will last, but
it will not get very much use.
Of course 13's are available now, 11's and 9's will be Christmas presents.
"Huh, Doppelgranny aye", that's it, the gloves are off. Choose your weapon Sir. May I suggest: Gps's at high noon, Sandy point, Febuary.![]()
Keep the 11 comming Tony,I like chrissy presents. I'll just have to loose the gut if the bottom end is to low.
I can't shout the Tribal II up enough! I bought the Boxer SLE at the beginning of the season, seemed like a good idea at the time, and just test flew the 11m T to appease my mate who kept badgering me.
Needless to say the Boxer was flogged straight away and i finally got hold of the T. Stunning performance 15k to 25k no probs!
I love it!!!
I let a young bloke have a thrash on the Tribal 2 11mtr the other week, he's mother was'nt impressed, she came over to tell me,"she could'nt shut him up", he's father just sat there with a smile on his face,I think he's getting a new kite soon.
He was having such a ball, I got someone to run the M8 board out to him,he came in with a smile on his dial from ear to ear.
It was good to see my gear being utilized with style for once![]()
Steve
would you recommend the T II to a beginner?
( like I've done lessons and say 15 hrs water time, )
I'm tossing up between a flow sle 10 or a T II 11?
I'm 77kg and kite in 13 - 20knots maybe up to 23knots
any comments appreciated
cheers
Poida
Poida : Yes, the Tribal 2 is a great kite from beginner all the way to advanced. Such a safe, easy relaunch and quality kite.
ALSO: New F.one Impact.... There are currently only 3 new F.one Impact SL (short lines) kites in the country at the moment. These kite are designed for very very windy conditions. The are not as fast as last years Impact and the biggest available size is a 9m
Im pretty sure the lines are 16 or 17m.
I work for the f.one importers for Australia, as well as being a team rider. We would like to know how much people are going to be interested in the New Impact SL, so that we can decide on how many to import. As I said, there are only 3 in Australia now, two 6m's and one 8m. Once I have tested these kites in their recommended wind ranges, I will post a full review and some pics.
