The pop is the wakestyle one.
The driftwood is a wakeskate
and the flow is a wakestyle/freestyle board meant to
be smoother on landings and in chop.

i wonder if there is noticable difference between flow and pop? im always a bit iffy about wakestyle boards as far as how good they can go up wind. but iv heard the pop is pretty good for that. about 70% of our sessions at my local are in pretty light wind so it would suck to have a board that struggled in the light stuff. im on a naish monarch at the moment which is pretty good but snapped one already and the second one is starting to crack in the same spot. when it does eventually snap i was thinking either the north gambler (bananna board) or a pop. more than likely go with the gambler tho.

Flow looks to have more rocker than the pop. Not 100% on that but looking through the Tona pics its something I noticed. The extra rocker makes sense coming from dre. Wider than the pop and can't see any channels.

Been riding the pop for 2 years now and it's a sweet board, love riding it. Not too power hungry (or any problems holding ground). It's thicker and noticeably heavier than kite boards (maybe a downside in light wind) but seems almost indestructible. Apart from some scratches, nothing has changed on it after lots of use. I'm always riding it up on to the beach and treating badly.

Wonder if the flow is built lighter (looks to be thinner) to appeal more to the kite crowd, where the pop remains the kite/wake crossover.. Saying that, wonder if any changes the the pop other than graphics? Doesn't look like it.

Yeah pop's an awesome board, it is heavy but you don't notice it at all once you're riding. They aren't indestructible but no board is. Easy upwind on it as it's nice and stiff, as long as you have enough wind to unhook you'll be fine.

Had a gambler but didn't like it as much, think it's a board for the lighter guys, only other board I'd look at would be the lf dlx or axis Parker.

oh yeh. did you have an older model gambler or the new one? the new one looks way different to the old one. i have a mate who had the old one and he snapped 3 boards in like 6 months it was out of control but he now has the new one and has had it for a while now and is still in 1 piece. it looks alot more solid. im only 60 kg so i dont think ill break it. i demoed a dub and absolutly hated it, it felt like i was towing a wind sock. ive heard the custom is similar to that also. do you know what the price difference is between the pop and gambler?

Yeah you don't notice it in the water and probably the weight helps it ride smooth. I reckon adds momentum in rotations too.

I split one along the channel and a mate pulled an insert, but those were the early builds and warrantied.

My gambler was the older one without the concaves found it to flexy but I'm85kg, the north track system is sh!t also.

i'd go pop if you want to focus on any air tricks.

Dre's boards have always had too much rocker for my liking. He loves his kickers, rails and slashing waves and that's what the Flow is designed for. Not so much flat water pop.

I'm about to jump ship from a pop to a axis parker pro. Worth a look

Let us know what you think Ezy I was thinking the same thing, I''ve ridden the tranq and think it's too wide but reckon the Parker could be the one.

The Pop is the staple wakestyle/freestyle board. The bottom shape allows for awesome upwind even though it has a fair amount of rocker on it. It is surprisingly good in lighter winds. The board is unchanged for 2014 aside from the graphics. I have never heard of one snapping.

The Flow is designed to transition well from rail to rail, carve well, and still excel in flatwater load and pop. It has a slightly higher rocker for soft landings and performance in waves and kickers but knowing Tona, the bottom shape will allow for good low end as well. The board is also slightly thinner and will be a touch lighter from what I gather.

In regards to Axis. The boards are different than Tona for sure but still awesome! I'm 85kgs and I really like the size of the Parker. Tranq is nice for sure but I felt more at home on the Parker. Adrian definitely knows how to make a board. They are good in lighter stuff too despite the rocker.

Mate, dont think the new ones are any better, people are still breaking them.

If you kite mainly in the chop at Pinnas, or the flat water of woodies, I'd go the Pop, if you kite more at mullas and want more kicker fun on the little waves, the Flow may be better.
Hit me up for a go on my Pop if you see me at pinnas next time, to see what you think.

I love my pop, its my every day kite board. I ride it finless (crap in the waves but im sure every board with no fins would be crappy in waves).
I love tona's products. iv been hitting the same busted ass rail for a few weeks now and I don't have any serious damage. this boards a designed to handle anything you through at them.
the weight issue in no problem at all, the only thing is I over rotate every now and then!

I love the new graphics on the new boards yewwwwwww

Mate 2 boards for sure ! lol .
I run a tona 138 and a luluz 135
The luzuz is fast n light. It out performs the tona in light conditions .
When its cranking the tona cuts thru chop, easier to load and softer landings .
Then the luluz is a rocket ship and out of control !!!
It will extend your quiver but makes choosing harder lol

I remember reading somewhere once..pretty sure it was the tona site..that what makes them different to other brands is that they don't feel the need to release a new board every year unless they have something new to offer.i thought that is a pretty refreshing thing to hear from a company.
From all reports the new pop is still the same, great board dont get me wrong but it seems a little hypocritical dont you think? Or maybe they have just done this to have some fresh graphics to go with the new flow. Either way it seems a step away from what they say they stand for

The 138 is actually 139 in dimensions.

Don't think Tona are hypocritical. They ran that boart for 2 or 3 years. Why not mix it up with some new graphics. There's no marketing crap behind what they're selling, they're just giving the people some fresh new graphics

Yeah thats what I think too mate. I agree with you completely.
But if they say they wont release a new board unless they feel they have something new why go and do the exact opposite.
Its just a bit of a shame when finally it looked like there was a company who would only release something new if they had well.. something new! Not just new graphics each year to keep the sales going.
But as I said great board non the less and looking forward to checking out the flow

I think you have it wrong. I believe they were talking about actual technological developments and not graphics. If they were to slightly change the rocker and flex patterns and declare it the best thing since slice bread then yeah perhaps so. But who are they really offending by changing the graphics? seriously? It's been like 3 years since the board first dropped. Changing graphics after 3 years isn't exactly breaking company values

In terms of light wind riding i think most wakestyle boards would be pretty **** and you'd be better off finding something flatter like a Best pro creator or LF influence or concept DLX etc. something that can carry good speed. anything with rocker gets boggy. I found that with the tranq and customs that once it's light it bogs a lot before popping so you lose a lot of your power before leaving the water. Great boards when you're moderately to fully powered but in light stuff i'd steer towards lower rockered boards. BP and tranq are same boards just different sizes which means it'd still have close to 55mm rocker.

Obviously this isn't a problem if you're light or you have big kites but i found it saps a bit of the fun out of lighter days.

Gamblers are still ripping tracks and snapping, hopeless boards IMO. Besides I think the price between a Tona and a gambler is a few hundred $$

because they openly said it, there's nothing new its just a change in graphics. its just saying hey guys we re painted the house so you have more variety.

I don't see this as releasing a new product, I see it as cosmetic renovation. I cannot think of one single kite, wake or snow company that runs the exact same thing for years on end, everyone apart from tona does exactly what tona does and then claim they've made some crazy developments too. at least they are honest.

Personally i think they have a great board in the pop, the best wake style ive ridden, no point in changing it when its that good to begin with, but i defiantly thought that graphics did need modernising, which i think they did well in their own way. A little bit of a freshen up never hurt.
