If I was strapped for cash I wouldn't rule them out I'm just saying if you can afford it go for something that is proven and you can walk into the shop and grab a spare part or get the staff to fix problems for you.
Well now that you have brought up spare parts... Switch sell practically every part you need to replace on their kites and lines at stupidly reasonable prices too. You couldn't make spare parts your self from a chancellery for cheaper.
This was another thing that really sold me on switch kites. I have owned a BWS Noise 2013 model for about a year and a half now and I am constantly replacing parts and have been since about 6 months ago.
A set of P-lines from BWS were $50

so I made my own set for like $6. Then the little plastic bit on the inside of my bar went
http://shop.bwsurf.com/products/plastic-bar-insert $34 for a tiny bit of plastic

. I also came to the conclusion that the little bit of plastic was only there so that it would wear out and you would have to buy one for $34, luckily I have a 3d printer... Then because that piece of plastic wore out and my chicken loop lines shredded them selves on the exposed screws. BWS don't even have those lines listed on their website to be replaced and I didn't dare contact them at the risk of having to trade in an arm for a set of replacement lines. So I made my own, cost like $15 for the rope and then about 30 mins of my time splicing an eye and re-installing it to my bar.
Now If I owned switch gear I could have simply ordered new chicken loop lines for $17 I believe.
The parts are so cheap I would be inclined to buy a spare set of everything I would ever possibly need to replace on a switch kite and keep it with me so that if im out on the water and something breaks i can easily come in replace it and head back out.
If I owned a big name brand kite and **** broke Id have to come in pack up, go home, take out a loan, head to a kite shop, hand over my whole wallet, then they would order the parts and I might get them in a week (if I was lucky).
