Anybody try these out? Would it increase the turning substantially or would a 55cm bar do the same trick as the below 46cm?

Yes it will increase the turnabilty of a badly bridled and designed kite and you you develop tennis elbow and look like the incredible hulk

The pic is a bit small but what you are saying is that the bar pressure will be excessive, I suppose it would act similar to the 2:1 Bow kite bars but the pressure would be in the sheeting in out rather than the turning like the old Crossbows.
I had a 2007 Xbow and near the end of the season I could not kite for more than an hour at a time due to tennis elbow.
I suppose Southwind bar on a C kite would not be so bad due to not sheeting in and out as much as a SLE, especially a low aspect kite.
Still very curious about the turn ability, Top Hat swears by them but then his has no depower???

It looks like it is still a 1:1 bar but the front lines are redirected away from the top center of the bar.
So bar pressure would still be the same as the original kites 1:1 bar.
The 2:1 bars have the pulleys on the rear lines.

I still have my old Airush Pulley Bar in the shed at home. It has the single harness line with swivel on it. It's mint and if anyone want to pull big mans kite loops, I'll loan it to you to put on your "C" kite. It's even set up with 20m lines for serious kitelooping. I'll stand by with the camera 
Pretty sure there are not too many people in the sport nowadays who could still ride a "C" kite with no depower, no safety system and fast turning of a pulley bar. It can only be setup as a suicide safety system. Pretty sweet huh?

Just stumbled across a kiteworld review of the Southwind Pulley bar. They tested the bar on a 16 m North Rhino as well as an 8 m Ozone Instinct Light.
Rather than me tell you about it you can see the review on issue 41 of kiteworld, page 108, which is available as a free digital back issue on the web.

You cant realy make the V longer because its part of the sheeting system.
So as you sheet in and out it extends and reduces the length V above the bar.
The other point of the pulley bar is not have the centre line running through it.
Just had a look at the pulleys and used on the southwind bar and they are all good quality Ronstan pulleys.

as Charl said the length of the v line changes the kites turning speed. So a sheetable pulley bar would change turning speed as you sheet. Haven't tried this bar but this seems wierd.
Made a pulley bar years ago and used it with '04 fuels when the wind was steady. Good fun but never liked it when it was gusty. Also found it wouldn't stop turning after a stack on suicide. Still have it somewhere. Needs a new swivel harness line.

Interesting concept. I was actually playing around with pulleys and bars back in 2005 trying to achieve this same result. I gave up when bar diameter became an issue. Pulley bars took away all your depower (what little you had back then) but made my 15m Fuel turn like an 11M.
should be riding pulled in to max power anyway make a vid of it in use, could be interesting
