From all the shops I have spoken to ,the lightest on the bar is the Globe kite ( which is awsume to use ) but the most common is the Slingshot Desiel or the Cabrina Switch Blade.
anyone herd bout the sof-x bow?
genuine 3 line kite!!
how good is that?
its funny but i remember damo talkin bout it for so long that he had this idea for a 3 liner and that it was possible.
could this be the future???
seems so much smarter than going to 5 lines.....
pity no-one in aus stocks them (well that i know of)
gotta say tho, of the few times i used the assault, it was a definite thumbs up![]()
I have a Takoon Nova 12, I brought it as a christmas present for my self, I have been kiting for about 22hours now. I have a very extensive sailing background, so I understand how a kite should be trimed and what the wind is doing.
I have made a couple of mod's to it because I felt that the velcro bar stopper was dangerous, (you fall out of the sky if you let the bar go)I have punched the stainless sheeve out of the centre of the bar and put a cabrina crosbow stopper ball on.
I also shorten my front lines 6 inches, this allowed the adjustable knots to be used. Before when I adjusted it for full power up it would fly backwards. You would think takoon would have the line length right by now?
The kite is very well constructed, and is very strong, I am not that impressed with the wind range though, I am 95-100kgs and ride a Underground Flex 142, under 15knts I am on the beach (no chance) the depower is great and I find the kite preforms best when it is depowered although adjusting it is a bit of a pain! I think that I will change the depower strap to a trapese cleat, make it longer and easier to use. 25knts need more depower scotty!
I wrote to takoon to ask what I should do about the velcro stopper (imposible to reset once blown and always blows)they don't reconise it as a problem (typical french!) stupid barstards because it is the one big thing that lets them down
Zorbit,
there are a couple of answers to your velcro prob.
Unstitch the neoprene cover near it and move it to cover the velcro.
Or do as i have and put a cable tie around it with just enough tension to provide the pressure on the bar you desire.
the real issue is that when you are using the bar, the 2 velcro outers are pulled apart leaving only one holding the stopper.
As for under 15kts, it's a 12m kite and you are 100kg wet, on a small board.
It is the nature of the Nova 12m that it likes over 17kts, and thrives in its top end.
All Hail the Thin White Duke.
Bow to Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
Of course Dachopper and I both know the ruler over all Bows is the Tribal.
Azza wants a pink one, PR likes yellow.
Why not a Dog Dick Red one, sooner or later they will all be the same colour.
