Quobba Fins for Kitesurfing
Disclosure - I drink beer and kite with the owners son RY.
So I surf and also kite on these fins and as most people know me I will ride what I like and not what I don't. I have been riding and testing these fins for over a year.

The Tech- the fins have a small foil wrapped around the base which is designed to create some lift and drive. They are made of glass and hi tensile polymer. As the the Quobba saying is 'The faster you go, the faster you' this rings true on these fins.

Benefits I found for kiting Extra percentage drive upwind - when tacking I found the fins help with a slight drive and extra angle going upwind. I would say it might improve upwind distance by about 10-15%. (Yes I have tested this for the peanuts on here)

When travelling fast and carving the fins like to turn corners and have a nice hold through turns where other flatter fins let go which definitely is an advantage because we go faster on a kite than normal surfing. Theres an extra drive that squirts through the end of your turns.

Negatives They catch seaweed a bit more than a normal fin

They come in Medium and Large sizes (I am 95KG and ride the larges. I would say if you are 80KG or less go the mediums. Also they come in FCS, Futures and multi box.
Airton and James Carew number 1 & 2 in the world both ride Quobbas purely by choice which sais allot for the fins.
I would suggest demo a set from Action Sports as I know they are stocking loan fins just to see if you feel the difference and also if they suit your riding before dropping in. Hopefully that was a helpful review see you on the water.

Totally agree with Andre Started using Quobba fins at INDO trip this year and use on my standard surf shape and cut off nose shape Shredder Now recommend these fins with my boards My riders loving them too Ranging from 70 kg to over 100 kg riders Note I buy these fins No sponsorship

I see they don't recommend running quobbas in a quad setup...
I'm long time quad setup kinda guy, what difference would I expect to see coming from a regular fin quad to the quobba in a tri thruster?

I am not sure but I dont think they have the trailer fins out as yet. I have run just the 2 outside fins and normal trailers to good effect.

Yep thumbs up for the Quobba fins.Use them paddle in and now in kiteboards.

Just in my experience but each to there own I started off on Quads but over the year's refining kite boards I only use Tri fins and have not noticed better up wind for Quads or when kiting with others But may help in marginal wind and large kite 17 m Personally the board design also play's big part of up wind ability And some of big arse tail may be of advantage with Quads

Yes agree board design tail width,fin design and size.Some wider tail boards with more volume probably suit Quads.

Obviously lot of thoughts went into this. The shifter thing is pretty smart.It'd probably come to live in conditions where the Joe rider never goes though... All pics and videos are shot in pretty solid conditions.

I'll probably get a set just because it is a locally designed product (not that I expect them to take my average riding to new heights).

The shredder (orange board) you tried had orange Set Medium, that's your size, yellow is large size. Some of my riders are 90 to 100 kg and are using orange medium in Shredder (cut off nose) and low Lts wave boards and bigger Lts wave boards are using the yellow Large fins. There are new carbon/glass sets coming, which strapless freestyle guys are frothing about, they are stiffer and it gives them more pop.
