I got a new flight 17 off Nigel from east coast kiting on the Sunshine Coast it's a really nice easy kite to fly and very fast turning for a kite that size. I have been riding it on my surfboard mostly and loving it , it doesn't do anything crazy like on rippertom 's video link, quiet the opposite it's very well behaved

9-12knts ne and having a fun I guess that's all that matters

Some people here seem to think a photo or video or two is enough to completely confirm a product as good or bad...

Looks like you're having fun! What bar are you using?

Well I guess a photo confirms he's a real person who actually kites.

The bar is the OR freestyle 55cm bar, atb trim.

Glad you're enjoying the kite Fruitloop

I probably shouldn't have posted a picture not sure if kamikuza liked it or not ! But after watching that vid posted of the orange flight 17 reverse launched then buckling and twisting I just thought that it's a bad interpretation of the kite it must be under inflated as my kite is really well behaved and very very easy to fly and the canopy stable for a 3 strut kite of that size .
Anyway Nigel from East coast kiting sorted me with a demo and it's up there with any of the light wind kites I've flown , probably more fun if anything I really liked it so I brought it ,I guess that's all that counts, if you like it and your having fun ! ! !

Yep. That is severly underinflated, and he caused it to crash. Why he suddenly pulled on the bar like that, who knows.

Just a weird video. Clearly good enough to reverse launch and handle a big kite with a fresh breeze, but dumps the kite in the drink? I guess to make a point.

I have a fat lady v2, its very good when in the air, but once or twice I dropped it and had to spin it around, and it was very noodlely until I relaunched it. I think they are making these big kites with tubes that are minimal for weight (and aerodynamics too?) for light wind, clearly a weakness when the structure is not properly supported by tensioned up bridle and lines.

as tom said on the german forum oase.com, the flite was inflated very firm. the fronttube is thin and if you do a reverse relaunch the kite collaps.
it is also easy to see that the wind is up to 5bf. clearly the FT isn't stiff enough to hold the load.

Ummm, why would you reverse launch a 17m LW kite in 5bf?

no way that is 5bf . Get a windmeter out and justify the statement of 17-20 knots .

Looks more like marginal 4bf if not 3bf to me .

I flew the flight in 10-12kts and 3ft waves (that's 6' faces) so lots of water moving and light winds.
Kite was electric. No dramas getting out pas the break. Kite is REALLY fast turning and intuitive. Light bar pressure, jumps and loops easy.
But I forgot to under-inflate it, i'll do this next time I want to try hot launching it in 5bf lol.
