I am new to the sport of Kite surfing. I am getting my second lesson this arvie,
I am looking at buying a second hand Kite to begin with and like the reviews and look of the Liquid Force Havoc 12m. Can anyone advise me if this would be suitable for a beginner?
Thanks for your replys.
I weigh 75kg and will be riding in Moreton bay off Brisbane. Typically througt the summer monthe we get 10-30knot NE and winter we get less consistant SW at about 10-25 Knots.
Hi,
I have a 2006 12m LF Assault for sale. Immaculate condition - perfect for beginners due to the large wind range and excellent depower and safety systems.
I am in WA so you may not be interested, but if you are feel free to drop me a message and I will get you some photos.

ive just been lurning too and the peter lyn venom 1 foil is what ive got and its real easy to use compeared the the blow up ones, i love it
Ryano, the 12m Liquid Force Havoc is a reasonable choice as a beginners kite for you. At 75kg a 12m kite is the right size for you - stick to non gusty winds under 20knots while you are learning. The important features that the Havoc offers you are the depower range (ie bridled kite) and easy relaunch. Fly downwind of some experienced kiters (to keep an eye on you) while you are learning. Have fun and be safe![]()
Liquid force Havoc 12mtr is more than suitable for most brisbane weather conditions. If you can get a second hand one, then no worries, but the 08 version has a better wind range. The 07 is a little limited in the wind range, so as long as you don't try and go out in over 20, as said by others, you wont have any hassles. good safety and good depower. The havoc is a better choice than any C for a beginner, just not as good as the new 08 kites, especially the Slingshot Rev which has it all, especially safety.
The Havoc will get you into kiting and you will have fun and stay safe.
Happy kiting,
George
Thanks for the advice guys. Can you believe my wife insisted on me getting the 08 Havoc. Happy days! I have attempted using it a couple of times after a few lessons. Unfortunately the wind here in SE Qld have not been favourable for learners since i got it.
It does seem easy to fly and relaunching is easy.
08 Havoc is great gear on LF product line , high quality building on current marketing . the control system is super clean and improved than last year . try different knots on kite pigtials setting to find the power you like ,enjoy yourself on learning !!!
Glad you managed to go for the 08, it is a better kite in wind range and relaunch and you don't have the hassle of a kite that might need repairs mid season.
Weather is looking better now too, so you should be able to get out and have some fun. Dont know where you are, but Sandgate is great for beginners and Padi at Surf Connect is great for follow up service.
