Hi just wondering if anyone has now had some more time on the slash to do a decent review etc cheers

today i demo 10 slash , 12 slingshot wave and 10 RRD 10 meter in below 14 knotts. i used different boards fron nash mutant allien and a mobile skimboard. i was impressed be the 10 Rrd surf kite. it had more power than 12 waves and 10 meter slash . all the kites turned similat

RRD Religion? Was it just the power that impressed you more than the other kites? Same wind strength while you were testing?

i kited between to 230 amd 530 pm. with the religion i was able to go back to initial start with the other two kites i was walking back. this was at st kilda. the power of a kite is only impotant when thw windbis margonal. when you are kiting with in the wind range of a kite the turning feeling bar pressire and drift is more imoptant than the grunt of the kite

I have been riding new Slashes for the last week and bought a 9m and 7m with a plan to get a 5m at a later date - so I'll give you my first impressions frmo 2 sessions on each kite - Basically I think they are awesome and don't really have anything negative to say yet

I am a fairly experienced strapless wave rider, weigh 95kg and was riding a Firewire Evo 5'3 for every session. I pay full price for my kites and have no brand affiliation. My older kites are Naish Parks (2014) with which I have been really pleased so I guess I do have a little bit of brand loyalty.

First up build quality is exceptional. The quad tex is ultra stiff and crispy (to the point where its difficult to roll the kite up) and gives the kite a very solid feeling in the air.

In the air the kites are fast and pivotal in the turn and have a very fast and direct steering feel. Low end is excellent (not quite as much as a Neo) as you can see from the first graph I was comfortable staying upwind in 14-16 knots on the 9m. On the waves the drift was excellent and when I did manage to finally drop it while surfing a wave I could relaunch before the next wave of the set even in light winds and with a sweep - I think the speed of relaunch is helped significantly by how structurally solid the Quad tex and the reinforcements make these kites as they just hold their shape so well. I'm yet to explore the high end



The 7m is so much fun and performs great as a wave kite - again very fast, direct feeling and excellent drift. I feels really good from 17 - 22 knots and am yet to really push the high end again on this one


The range of these kites seems to be so good that a 3m size difference would be reasonable (although I like riding as small a kite as possible) I'm excited to see how the 5m goes when i save up the money to buy it .

Hi. In this short video I show you the new Naish Slash in action during my first sessions in Kanaha, Maui. The drifting ability is outstanding, this kite is pretty fast in the flight window; I love the bar feeling too, this kite can be powered on and off in a blink of an eye. In the same sizes, It is only a little bit less powerful than the Pivot but being faster I can create more apparent wind, achieving the same low end. Backstalling? No way It flies even with all the lines totally slacked. So IMHO this is one of the best wave kite on the market.

what size are you using?

Pulled the trigger and bought myself 10/8/6 to replace my pivots.

I tried the 10 today in our frozen conditions with Vader 5'5 in winds between 16 and 22 knots I would say, side shore waves 1m50 max. I am a heavy guy.

So, low end excellent, like the pivot ('15) I would say. Turns faster then the pivot for sure.
Very good drifting.
Extremely solid in the air (feels compact)
Also very very smooth power delivery. It is very confortable.

Couldn't be more happy !

Any more feedback on the Slash kites would be appreciated as I'm looking to see if it's worth changing my Pivots to Slashes.... many thanks

can anyone say the main difference between NEO 2017 x Slash.
Nowadays I got a Pivot 2016 10 m, but I have been thinking in get a 10m Neo.
I am 71kg, normally just ride waves in wind ranging 14-20kt most of the time.
How about bar pressure of hem and others importants points?

I spent one session on the neo and slash. I bought the slash but both were outstanding kites and it really just came down to just what I slightly preferred on the day.

I found the neo smoother in its turns but in being so a little slower in its response. I'm a heavy rider 95kg and felt I could be more aggressive with slash as I ride my 9m from 14 knots and maybe the neo was a little lite on the bar for me. Other than that from one session I could not really pick between them and it really will just come down to personal preference on flying them both and what you prefer the feel of.

I'm also a fan of the low V front lines on Naish and I am a fan of the octopus system - but I know a lot of people aren't. The quad rip stop material stuff is great too. I must admit I fly my slashes on the north click bar

My only criticism of the slash after 3 months of riding it regularly is that the front bridle is showing a bit of wear (where the rope has been spliced back on itself) from a sliding pully and ball stopper. This currently doesn't effect performance and hopefully doesn't start to cause the pully to snag.....

Interesting review. So you found the Slash to be more or less as powerful as the Neo?

Since you like the Octopus system I assume you owned or still own other Naish kites. Have you had a chance to compare the Slash to the Pivot?

I'm also 95 kg and also considering the Slash. I have the 11 m Pivot but haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Will replace my Airush Wave this season and looking at more powerful option. The Slash seems to be a more powerful option while still maintining the features of a dedicated wave kite.

i have a naish slash 8m hardly used cant seem to get not even 1 enquiry the slash has not been promoted to good its the hardest kite to sell ive ever owned any takers 800 used 5 times
