Lucky me, got a new '07 12m shockwave. Took it out for a blast last night at St Kilda, appears to be an awesome kite. Was riding it on a 125 Naish SOL board. Rode the '06 version of this kite, and massive improvements. Light bar pressure, super turning speed and massive boost on jumps. I managed to invert it, but that was cause I stalled it on a jump, and it tucked. My last post was for the '07 boxer, bit hard to compare the two, after riding the shockwave just once. Watch this space for more info.

That's a bit of a worry. In my opinion the only time an inversion is acceptable is if the kite has crashed and gets rolled over by a wave, and maybe if you were riding way over the top end of the kite's range. A messed up jump is something all riders are going to do.

I rode a Sonic for over 100 hours and never got an inversion. I now have a Switchblade II (the Sonic broke) and it is growing on me very fast. I've done lots of really silly things on it and it has not even gone close to inverting.

I disagree. Any kite will fall out of the sky and potentially invert if you don't send it forward again. Its the simple fact that the kite is upwind of you.

With the inversion, I should have given condition details. It was a very gusty day and I was up near the Pier and RMYC St Kilda, where their is no wind behind the pier at water level. Any kite fall out of da sky with no wind. It was also my first bash with this kite, so I was still getting a feel for the set-up. Since then been riding and it does not show any tendancies to tuck. I Rode it on that ****ty gusty easterly on thurs, most others gave up, but this rig handled it fine.

On the topic of the inversion again. Yesterday was riding, and wind dropped to basically zip. The kite just descended to the ground without dropping the leading edge, i.e. no tuck.
I have a question if anyone can answer tho, I noticed that sometimes the tips fold in, under hard turning loads. Has anyone seen this before, is it my setup or technique. I thought that it was maybe because the kite was under inflated?

Millsy,
Have been flying Shockwaves for over a year. Never had it invert or wing tips fold but I always pump to a minimum of 7psi. Handy to have a Slingshot gauge wish Naish would put the same on their pumps. I'm sure you will enjoy the shockwave, it is an extremely versatile kite with great range.
Constant winds,
Baz.

just go my new 07 9m shockwave and took it out in about 22-25kts. my 12m is a 05 torch so im used to c kites. All the hype thats been going on about these new bow/sle types kites i have to say is TRUE. Its so much nicer and easier to fly than a C. It really is such a smooth ride, all the gust and bumps that you feel in a C are just not there in this kite. Its a little strange when your standing on the beach and you have the kite in the air it doesnt feel like your powered up enough but when you get going there is heaps. You dont seem to feel the power on the bar or waist but it pulls you along as fast as you want. i love it and will probably go all shockwaves once i relearn how to jump as it is so different than my C. (wish naish made 13m i think it would go well with a 9m)
