Hi ste,

Too early to call. BOM show the el nino/la nina indicator vasilating back and forth over the zero line. October is ALWAYS sketchy. People seem to forget that we had rain right up into mid November last year. We need strong El Nino conditions to bring on a super windy season. Unfortunately there are a lot of kiters on the south western coast who pray for La Nina as they get excellent S Easterlies when it is hot and troughy in Perth during La Nina.

In short, it should be an average Perth season. expect the good winds to start being a bit more regular in November, a good December and January, a flukey Feb with some good days, March should be in taper but still rideable winds until late March, then an early finish in April. May is time to surf and dive.

I would expect winds to be 18-25 knots for the most part in the high season with a few day to almost 30 knots in Perth. El Nino gives lots of very strong winds up around and over 30 knots, but realistically speaking we haven't had a season like that since 2009/2010.

It will be a good season but won't go down as a memorable one. I'm saying same as last year.

Remember! The worst Perth season is better than the rest of the countries best season, so be happy!

Thanks for that Darren, as always a lengthy and informative reply.
Must call in and check out the shop in Balcatta.
