Been kiting a year on a Cabrina Prodigy 158cm. Got Waroo 9 + 13. Kite in wind 12knots up to high 20's. Find once it gets windy the big board is tough to edge really hard. I'm 87kg.

So where to from here? Need a board that handles bay chop and the ocean at Torquay. Twin tip I presume aroung 136cm.

Anyone got some good recommendations??

Many to choose from.

Flexifoil, Nobile, Blade, Airush, Liquid Force, ABoards....... the list goes on.

It all depends what style of riding you are doing and want to do. And of course how much you want to spend.....

north makes some serious freestyle/newschool boards such as the Cesar (132x40) mallory (129x39) and Sky(136x40) (same boards different sizes really).. thers one or two more docile freeride boards like the jaime pro in their range.

Underground boards and I guess cardboards aswell make real nice all rounders that are smooth and comfy to ride and perform pretty darn good..

duno bout naish.. i hear their baords are pretty sick

Airush make a really good starter freeride board called the switch.. or u can get something a bit more agressive and newschooly like the Xpact or u can get a overall freestyle board that handles chop a bit better and has flip tips so u wont nose dive called the Protoy..

i suggest you try out a cardboard or a underground.. then go check out some north and airush gear.. i strongly suggest all 3

I stepped down in board size this year and got the 08 north x-ride. Unfortunately i've only had it out once at dolls but it handled the chop really well.

It's worth putting on the Demo list.

another vote for cardboards....fantastic performance, price. service and knowledge, not just some punched out production board for the masses.

Thanks for that, cardboards are looking pretty good.

Question now is which one for a 87kg guy. There is a free ride 133-40 or 138-42. I'm coming off the Cabrina Prodigy 158cm.

cheers

Give Dan at Cardboards a call and have a chat with him - he's really helpful.
I would say go the 138 freeride.

(hi everyone, been lurking for a few weeks and finally decided to post, so, hello!) Just thought I'd add my vote for Cardboards - Dan has always been really helpful.

Btw kusu, I checked your profile and recognised your name - I was just looking at some of your photos on the Cardboards site! Did you add them today? I got an e-mail this morning from them about being able to add photos to the site now. Nice photos by the way!

Go a Card board. It is a custom board. ring Dan or go to his wed page & pick the board for you, putt your mob ph no' in the ID Tag. so if you loose it. It will be a boomerang. & come back.

Hi Guys,

I'm in much the same position as Chris-H, except 78kg (i'm riding a prodigy at the mo as well!). I suspect there are plenty of good brands out there & I will be buying 2nd hand cause I'm poor!

Anyone got some advice on what SIZE board I should be thinking about?

what kind of style do you want to ride? Freestyle, wakestyle, waves or freeriding?

I think you would just call it freeride.

i would say try the liquid force comp... it is hands down the bestest board ive ever ridden .. mine is comin in next week. the 131 is a sweet size. i have ridden heaps of other boards from other brands and nothing has come close.
