Was strong wind conditions, probly 18 knotts plus. I had my 11 M Fuel slightly depowered at the 5th line, and powering upwind. Boosting big. Had an oppertunity to have a try of a 10.5 Ion 2. First thing I noticed that not only did this kite turn faster, slightly smoother, but on my first jump I got demolished because I wasn't expecting such a huge boost. I send the kite in the normal way, and then this kite is honestly like an elevator. The jump cought me by surprize and having not adjusted to the different jumping style of the Ion 2 I ended up getting smashed back down with equal intencity. After a recovered myself, I then had a chance to get used to the kite. For me only weighing 65 kg, I was very overpowered, riding with no style as my arm was streched out as far as I could reach, with full depower on the strap. The kite has a slighly different landing techiek to the fuel which takes a little bit of adjusting too, so that you don't fall out of the sky on your face, or go rocking downwind. But once you got it, man it's fun. Kite looks reletively small when your flying it, but the grunt is definently there. Switched back to my Fuel and just didn't have the same lofty jumps the Ion 2 did. I'm assuming it has alot to do with the Ion 2 being a hybrid so you'd prob expect jumps to be more lofty.
Lookiing forward to trying it out in some lighter winds.
But I still love my Fuel :)
technique buddy.
if you cant hook a c kite back across the window as hard as u can fully sheeted in rail dug like a mother your never going to take it to its full potential.
to boost a hybrid is piece of piss. to boost a c kite takes a little bit more skill.
only place a hybrid might take a good c is in choppy water where its hard to hold the power down.
