Hey just got my 130x40 new 07 cardboard 2 days ago and have had it out twice. These boards are great quality, nice finish on top and bottom, nice pads and straps and good fins. The fact that you can actually go online choose what stance width and flex means you can really customoize your own board to have it exactly how you want it.
Along with being able to select the graphic design from a large range or even make your own and choose what colour straps, pads and handle means that your board can be further customised to your own liking.
Anyway enough raving about possible features. The board rode really smooth through choppy conditions, provided excellent pop and the flex really saved my knees on those harder landings.
Being able to customise this board to my desire really leaves nothing to chance of having a dud board, it performed exactly how I wanted it to. The double concave also is nice.
For a board that price ($850) which is Australian made and offers so much options to customise your ride you really can't go wrong.
Second that - I have had my Cardboard for almost 12 months and it has surpassed my expectations. For most of the time I have had it I have rode finless as my local beach is very shallow & tidal, so not having fins when kiting in an inch of water stops the drag and faceplants.
Put the fins back on recently to give more grip in surf and spins and also to see how much more I could load up for jumps. Fins do make a difference in this regard - but the tradeoff is those high speed skaty turns that finless gives you.
I have punished the board since I got it - but it is holding up fine.
excellent to hear, i was very happy to see a cool girl in a red bikini with one of my devil girl designs yesturday. Now thats what im talkin about :)
I have to disagree here, Cardboards made a board for another company and I must admit the finish of the board was shocking. Firstly the screw holes for the fins did not line up so had to be redrilled, it lookrd like a 5 year old had done the inserts for the straps and handle and to make things worse, the board broke after only an hour on the water. The other company involved have now made the board themselves and its 100% better. If you want something done right, do it yourself...
Sorry if this offends but just being honest.
I was, and now I've seen the Recoil made by Liquid Force in their factory and it looks sweet as. 100% better.
Tried the LF recoil new version th eother day, a bit heavy and sluggish compared to my cardboard of the same size but still an ok ride.
Re: the older recoil - in some instances, everything is built to a price...
If it broke as you say it will be direct replacement/warranty
