... my thoughts too!

Mind you, maybe it is significate performance change so they reeeeeeally want us to know all about it so it will appeal to freeride guys too, not just the flicky flicky dudes!

cheers,

Robbie

Haha! Give me back my 5 minutes! Actually, i skipped the parts about the bridle settings...

Aren't there already plenty of kites that already have those attachment options? Even my trusty Slingshots have the rear line attachment points for bar pressure/turning speed adjustment (but not the front line adjustment)

...but my kites have three, not two, rear line attachments

I'm sure North can do better than to brag about adjustment points...

Not trying to bag the kite, just the marketing instead

You want to tension through a fith line, you have to know what your doing. As Ive stated before. (and I didnt watch the video). North kites use a tensioned 5th, usually to a Y bridle to provide stability through the centre of the leading edge. This minimises the use of front bridle and rear bridle points to, Support Leading Edge.
North Kites since 2007 have given a direct feel and thats why some guys reckon they are the ferrari of kites. Changing tension to the 5th is not a new concept, the cleat on 2006-2009 fuel bars essentially did the same thing, but through a Y front, it may be more refined.Decreasing/increasing tension on a 5th line only creates more wind range.

Oh and 5th line kites are safe as.
Just make sure no lines are twisted before you come in.

I was under the impression that minimising bridles, or removing them completely gave a more direct feel (like the Fuel or Hadlow Pro).

Wainman offer a single point attachment which does away with the bridle, giving a very direct feel with stacks of bar pressure -- not sure if this is necessarily a good thing, nor does it make it a "Ferrari of kites" either.

Btw, does anyone here drive a Ferrari and ride a North, which can give an educated opinion or a direct comparison between a half a million dollar hand made Itallian automobile and a $2000 flying bladder covered in rip-stop material controlled with 4/5 lines mass produced in Asia? It would be good to get some closure on this wildly inaccurate, and irrelevant comparison which keeps getting bandied around without any real substance.

I drive a 1991 toyota lexcen with 450,000km on the clock. I also now fly a rebel and have used many brands for 12 years and I would say it is by far the best kite I've ever flown by a country mile.

But I don't qualify for your incredibly intelligent play on words, could never afford a ferrari, I buy too many kites.

and for the record wainman kites are also very, very good.

What bridle? This is a Vegas we are talking about, there is no bridle.

Yes and this direct attachment gives the Wainman next to no wind range. It's wind range is limited enough when flown on a bridle.

Wainman the Ferrari of kites? Maybe if the Ferrari was running on 1 cylinder and 4 flat tyres

Easy Briskites, See Dave...... first comment for what we are referring to here.

I never said Wainman was the Ferrari of kites if you carefully reread my comment, but ok, you're obviously an authority on this - unlike Lou Wainman of Wainman kites notoriety, one of the founding fathers of wake style kiteboarding.

Hey don't know if I like the porche of kites? Lets keep calling it the ferrari of kites and get mr wainmen all revved up a bit more.

So the wainmen kites are kind of like a cheap ferrari, like a skyline. Yeh wainmens the skyline of kites!

No, it's more like a Fiat Punto, not for any other reason other than liking the word 'Punto'.

Hey mate, Rode my new 14 for the first time today in relatively light wind. Was really surprised and happy with how well it flew in the light winds, and it terms of re launch was really impressive aswell. Like the other sizes it also was sick when it came to doing the unhooked passes etc.. so yeah my first impression was great
