PUCHACED 2007 SONICS 11MT & 8MT KITES,
a couple of months ago and have used the 11 extensively & have found the 11 to be very fast & responsive on the standard factory settings.
The 11 has great lift and excellent wind range, my weight is 72 Kgs. & i can use this kite from 10 knots with my lge. board to 25 knots on my small board.
I have only got to use the 8mt. in the last 3 to 4 weeks & have found wind the range to be just unbelievable, bottom end 15 knots top end 35 knots. I was out at balnarring beach on that very windy sunday a couple of weeks ago & was the first in the water & finding the going a little tough, but after the first 1/4hr the wind settled back a little & i had a great kite.
When i finished my session aprox. 3hrs. later my mates told me that the yacht club recorded gusts to 42 knots in that first 1/4hr & settled back to 35knots, so I've got to say (WHAT A RANGE)
Comparing 07 11mt to 06 11mt i found the 07 to be more solid & quicker turning & the 07 8mt to be more solid & slower turning.
Now to the build quality: far superior to the 06 more solid leading edge material, triple sewn with substantial reinforcing in the right places.
As i said i have only flown the kites on factory settings & have found no need to change, but the adjustment available is huge.
Self launch and land (excellent) water relauch (excellent)Drop the kite in the water & it will on it's side in the window all day ready for take off.
Bar & lines: Good bar (carbon) good lines, however i feel Matt could improve chicken loop set up. I run a turbo diesel chicken loop and leader lines & find this work very well.
In closing i've got to say i have used many different types of Bows & found the SONICS to be the best.
If they have a problem it would be that they are just to easy to use.
