I just put in an order for a Switchblade 10m. My mate reckons I should go a 12m SBIII, but the guy at the shop said "everyone here fly's a 10, and this model is 15% more powerful than last years 10m". So I ordered the 10.
I'm 80kg's and normally in 15-25 knots....
I just want to know...."What would you buy?"
Someone PLEAASE tell me their thoughts...I haven't picked it up yet and I can transfer the deposit onto a 12 if need be!
10m all the way.. if u wana ride a 12 its almost too light anyway..
i weigh 74 (last weigh in 2 weeks ago) and i ride a 10m torch3 in 16 - 26 knots ay.. so the cabrina will get you going in similar conditions with your weight. add a bit more top end to the cabrina though
If the local guru says 'everyone rides 10s' then head on down to your local spot and see what everyone really is riding! Personally, i'm on an Ozone 11m so that doesn't really help your cause aside from to reinforce that which ever you choose will be great.
I guess it all depends if you wanna get out in lighter winds, or you prefer to have more top-end potential for when the winds really pick up.
Any chance the shop your ordering through will let you demo both the 10 and 12?
I'm sold on a 10...just had another chat with some other lads...one is 96kg and rides a 10m in 18 knots no probs (slightly bigger board but).
Out with the vintage Airush flow, in with the new...Can't wait for this weekend!
yeah, you should be right with a 10m SB3 if you only have a choice of 1 kite for that wind range. If you really do get lots of wind close to 25kn then you might want to go a 12/8 combo.
I have SB2 8m and SB3 12m and I'm 75kg on a 135x40. I change from the 12m to the 8m at about 20knots.
Sweet spots (not overall range) for the 12m are 15-20kn and for the 8m 22-28kn, so I'm guessing at your weight on the 10m SB3 you should be able to stay upwind (just) in 15kn and your sweet spot will be 18-25kn.
Let us know how it goes! I've been totally impressed and had no issues with either the SB2 or SB3, the new kites are very very nice indeed to fly!
