quite regularly my heels catch the water when I edge hard upwind which results in loss of speed or crashing.
it's a big TT too with the straps in the standard position. should I move the straps further towards the toeside edge? or a more angled stance?
How would that affect the ride? I know I could just try but it's not windy right now
cheers guys

Some boards are shockers
as the water deflects off the rail it catches the heel and sprays up,
a board with decent outline certainly assists

If your heels are catching spray it means you can rotate your board more.

In general you should be trying to powerslide the board slightly by continually pushing your back foot away from you. This makes sure that your fins are engaging and giving you the best opportunity to go upwind.

This certainly helps
but you shouldn't be having to ride a set plane , stance or position to stop you copping spray,

I see it as the other way around. When I'm having spray or chop hit my leg it's usually because I'm not focusing on stance or optimising for upwind. I'm not riding a specific stance to stop spray, I'm looking at copping spray as an indicator that my stance isn't right and could be more efficient. This happens on both of my boards, but there could be boards that continue to do this even with a moderate powerslide, leading to your "some boards are shockers". I'd want someone to confirm the board is at fault though.

My brand of board doesn't care what the water conditions are or what tweeking you need to to do
it give zero spray, were on the newbies topics here and some brands are more prone to spray than others

Rather than just speculate it would be beneficial if kiteflo would just inform forum readers the make / model of his kite board. That way we could make an educated guess weather it was stance or the board is just plain crap!

liquid force focus 142x42

I'm no complete newbie, it's my 2nd season I have no problem going upwind and finding the right stance. At the right speed when going upwind hard this does hot happen. It mostly happens when I only go upwind a little or not at all.
