So what is the difference between a kiteloop and megaloop? Or is it the same thing essentially?

Mega loop kite is parallel with kiter, kite loop the kite loops aren't as agressive n only a small part of the window.

In a mega-loop, the kite pulls you horizontal, you free-fall and then the kite catches you - which is why you need to jumping over a certain height to do them... getting parallel lines just ensures you're going to free-fall

Any loop initiated by pulling the back hand is a Kite Loop.

Any loop initiated by pulling the front hand is a Down Loop.

I disagree, IMO a down loop is after apex of jump, pulling front hand on way up is still a kite loop not a downloop. Kite loop is on way up, mega loop is a MEGA loop extreme loop on way up, down looping is on the way down.

+1 downloop is looping the kite forward and down in your direction of travel.

The only differentiator for the megaloop's would be overpowered high loops with the kite going parallel but that's subjective.

+2 and as a kiteloop goes against the direction of travel the lines are loaded heavier resulting in a more powerefull loop than a downloop. Megaloops are a height thing, all kiteloops should have the kite as horizontal as your brain allows you to initiate. loop before the apex and the kite will get lower, but the landings will get heavier if you get it wrong.

I stalled my kite mid loop three days and am still having issues walking properly, but still in one piece I guess.

Mega-loop is the wrong expression when talking about loops. It is a sub-type of a powered kite loop.

A powered kite loop has the kite doing the entire loop through the power zone, or at least the critical section. It follows that the loop is around the horizontal axis., ie kiter and looping kite on roughly the same plane.

Most ordinary kite loops you have the kite looping around the edge of the power zone. Most of these are around the vertical axis, ie. above your head. The easiest way to do these is to do a sent jump, send the kite way too far back, then do a reverse down loop from behind you. It's a great way to transform a stuffed up jump into a quarter decent trick and saves you from going splatt.

The thing about kite loops is that they include a full 360 (or at least 270 rotation) where it goes from facing forward, back, down, around and under, then up again. Your body may or may not be in the air the whole way.

Down loops are mostly a half loop, initiated by cranking the front hand and turning the kite down through the window as you do a transition. ie. The kite turns from above in the window, down and under and out completing pretty much a 180 turn. You could do a down loop with a 360 rotation of the kite but that's not going to get you in the air or do anything useful. My favourite move of all time is the powered, down loop air gybe. It looks and feels really spectacular but is really easy to do and really forgiving.

A mega-loop is a **** off, humunguous powered kite loop. The defining characteristic of this is that at some stage the kiter is going to be above the kite as it sweeps through the bottom of the loop.

There are only 2 examples in this video at 0:52 and 1:05, but I don't think anyone will argue that they are NOT megaloops... and yet, the kiter is never above the kite. What DOES happen, is that as the kite is climbing to the zenith after it's pulled the rider horizontally, the rider is free-falling until the kite catches him/her.

Kite lower than the rider is a sub-sub-type... the psycho loop!
