Hi Peeps,
The video is OK, but the trim strap is not "a brake" and should never be refered to as one. There is also no need whatsoever to pull on the trim strap before initiating a downloop transition.
Easier explained by just saying "Pull on your front hand whilst doing a toeside carve to change direction. Spin the bar as soon as you are on the new tack and slide or hop back to heelside.
If you ride with speed into a carve downwind, the kite will depower significantly as you ride with the wind. (Reduced apparent wind speed at the kite).
As others have said, this isn't a "trick", but an alternative transition style. It has little consequence and is hard to make it go wrong unless you pull with your back hand to start the change of direction (That would be a kiteloop transition).
Have fun!

Only few things to say, the first time you try to do this maneuver there are some common mistakes like not finishing the downloop causing the kite to crash into the water, and because you are going downwind the kite could turn around making it more difficult to launch the kite... Another mistake is going overpowered. When you get more confidence you wont need to pull the trim strap...
