^^ that rather nice.

I got me a g-shock after losing track of time too many times on the water. No regrets. Probably better to stay away from white ones though - it tends to take some of the muddy colour after a while.

I got:

Rip curl - ocean search -2007
Rip Curl - ocean search - 2009 with about a million preset beaches
Rip Curl - tide master - 2009 (strap broke & it cost $80 to replace, so I bought the G Shock cheaper than the strap)
Garmin 610 - GPS - 2012
G Shock - tide watch - 2013

All great watches and going strong, look out for the pins falling out of the Garmin. I've replaced the strap with a Velcro one and now it's fine.

I picked up a Vestal brig for $100. It's Jordy Smiths model. Tide, one rubber band and best part is its a screw back that you can replace the battery yourself then just seal it up again over the O ring. 5 stars from me.

Olympic make sweet dive watches. Had mine since I was 15, other than replacing the battery and the band every now and then due to sun damage (i use the black rubber bands = always go in UV; you could get a velcro one and not have this issue) I have abused this watch to no end, and it is as solid as anything i've ever seen.

Super easy to read when you're in, on or under the water (i kite, sail & dive), a quick glance and you can keep on kiting. no digital read out, no bull**....

think it only cost $200 so definitely worth it
