Reading all these comments about what people think the best kites are. I thought I would see what kites people think are cr@p.I've had a few duds over the last 10 years. One that comes to mind as a real shocker was the 2010 waroo.

For me, RRD Hypertype II

I think from 2007

Flew like a 7 year old ADHD boy, hyped up on red jelly beans and fanta............and it was pink :(

Obviously you guys never tried a Slingshot Link, the kite that could not even fly without a bridle tweak released 6 months later!

Going way back to 2000, the F-One Shadow or STW was the biggest piece of sh1t I've ever seen sold as a kite. It was a foil, that was supposed to water relaunch, but it didn't, and it was almost impossible to self launch even on land.
Peter Lynn waterfoils were pretty ordinary too. The Wipika LTR, made out of polytarp would take third place.

Not sure what the red thumbs are about. Do some people think the 2010 waroo is a good kite? They had a tendancy to fly towards the ground when you turn your back on them. they are the reason why the Waroo series was stopped. All the waroos before them were bloody great.

Naish Boxers ~ 2002. Thats when I first picked up the kite, only to almost loose my life.

Took me 8 years to get back on a kite after that...

Would have to be the Hellfish wouldn't it? The cuban fibre wonder that was supposed to revolutionise the world.

It went from this:

What about 2003 17m ocean rodeo... Never relaunched, way too high aspect. Nothing like my good old fuels!

5.8 PL Waterfoil in black and yellow bee colours is the only kite I have had that nearly killed me. If you have never flown one then to summarise its performance it makes any inflatable look like a kids kite. Dam thing went into a death spiral and dragged me underwater like a lure, I was had already past the point of slowly blowing the air out of my lungs and was just about to suck in a lung full of water when it decided to stop. What a savage kite that was.

I've got an 11m and 7m 2010 Waroo, these are the kites I learned on and find them quite fun and stable.

Admittedly I have only ever flown two other brands of kites, the 2010 Cabrinha Switchblade in 8m & 10m (fresh out of my lessons and only for a few days) and the school I learned through had Airush DNAs.

What am I missing about the Waroos?

And if I can fly these 'shocking' kites well, will I be a legend when I finally get new kites of another brand?

I have a 2005 16m Wipika Matrix I used back in the day.....

I was over-powered at 16 knots
I was under-powered at 14 knots

..yes it has that one sweet spot at 15 knot

...I then got one of the early Switchblades and was continuously amazed
that a kite could actually have wind range, have depower and be stable...

I still have the Matrix stowed away, I don't think its right to subject
any prospective user to its charms...

Try a 2009 waroo and it will blow your mind compared to the 2010 model. they are probably ok to learn on but when you come to expect a great performing kite like the 2009 waroo, updating to the 2010 was a real let down. Stable is definietly not a good way to describe them. If you want a Best try a TS and you will see what stable is.

LOL. Hey that's my kite. Pink and all too! But mine is the RRD Type9.

And I reckon it's awesome on waves.

Still got a full quiver of matrix kites, I take them for a blast on the odd occasion , the 11 rips if you like power, also the Indy wasn't a bad kite, crazy power to size ratio, kites have become too easy and tame compared to some of the old gear imo

I disagree. I've had three fluids and they have been bomb proof. Plus they have an excellent control and safety system. They are somewhat heavier than many kites but that's because the canopy is stronger. I really enjoyed them actually and miss my old 10mt Fluid

I started out years ago with a Airush ATV. Nearly killed me and put me off Airush. I then moved on to using cabrinha CO2s which were great for boosting and a lot safer.

Strutless cloud looks pretty bad if you ask me.
I bet it would tear from arsehole to breakfast time the first time you crash it too.

My 7m Fluid atv is the best kite ive owned, coupled with a slighshot control bar! the thing is un breakable. Not even a pine tree could break it!

definitely the link, i was using early octanes, and was told that the link was awesome . bought one over the phone , flew it once, sent it back , what a load of snot. moved on and bought fuels

the worst kites I had was either this 2003 19.5m Airush liftpro jellyfish or a death defying Gastra Stealth 8m that would only generate more and more forward speed

aw come on
the F1 bandit DOS was ok
just needed the strings tuned and keep an eye where it was going, constantly
was a touch twitchy at the bar
