An amazing outcome -
Dave has to have 2 small ops to get electrical devices added to his heart so will be hospital for about another week
but he is in good spirits and Docs are pleased with his recovery
HIS NEW NAME IS LUCKY DAVE!!!!!
Well done Bruce, great work
This post should be transferred to the general discussion section so everyone gets to read it and learn from it
Well done all concerned ,as a older kite r it's great to see so many trained CPR people , I re do the course every year ,luckily never used it
proud to be part of the kiting screen in Australia
hope you have quick recovery dave , and back in the water when you. Can ??
He can't be Lucky Dave, Lucky Dave already exists (Dave S., formerly Slingshot Dave). In true Australian spirt of nicknames he should be called Un-lucky Dave.
Geez the bloke doesn't look like your general heart attack candidate, you've got half the kite community worried Dave, great your mates gave you another chance to kite, something to be eternally grateful for, get well soon
Ayresy with Dave yesterday -
Hope you Havnt been practicing handle passes on the bar above your bed dave geez hbf think of everything
My mates dad (also called Dave) actually had a triple bypass after suffering the same Windsurfing. He's fine now though and still Windsurfs and Surfs regularly, hopefully Un-lucky Dave will be back at it again soon!
Dopped in with Bew W to cheer him up - day 8 for him - He has 2 procedures this week and should be home on Friday if all goes well.
He is pretty good but over being hospital as you can imagine.
Also if you live on the SUNNY COAST and want to come to a CPR refresher we are organising - PM me
cheers
Bruce
Remarkable effort boys. My wife works in the cardiac cath lab and also knows the ambulance officer who was first on the scene. Word is that the CPR from the guys on the beach was first class and literally saved his life. Just goes to show how important CPR is and also how important it is to stay current by doing yearly courses! Luke
Guys, a absolutely incredible story and I think that we are all really fortunate to have people like you out there, on the day and with the knowledge to do what you did and without a doubt, save this mans life! I wish that there was some sort of formal award that could be given to you, thanking you, and this in turn may inspire more people to learn first aid. This award in the following news article was never really set for "civilians", but uniformed professionals, such as the brilliant Ambo's.

Well Done lads. Sounds like you saved his life.
Just Re CPR. I'm glad to see so many have it. I need it for work and have never had to use it. But its definitely worth the $80 for anyone.
Congrats again and hope hey recovers quickly :)

Dave is now back home.
He can't drive surf or Kite for 6 months while they monitor his new electronic defrib device inserted in his chest.
But he can drink a beer or 2!!!!
Fantastic Job Guys. He was Incredibly Lucky U guys were around and knew what to do.The one thing we all need to do is stay in shape, stay within a healthy weight range, exercise regularly, eat sensibly, cut down the amount of alcohol U consume, get a regular physical checkup. Don't do drugs, unless it's your Blood Pressure. But heh, if you stay in shape and do cardio vascular exercise regularly U won't have problems generally speaking.OK I earn my living as a Health Professional and do regularly train in CPR and First Aid. I have used my training a few times now. If we don't stay in shape how else are we gunna be able keep Kiting into our old age 92 -104 etc. Again Fantastic Job guys !!!!
Had a great welcome back LUCKY DAVE party last night with all the Kawana crew.
A big thanks to Johno from Sunshine Coast kite and SUP for donating a new Flying Objects to replace Dave's Wetty which was cut off him.
A great Night!!!! and talk about a happy ENDING!!
