I had one dig at this just loading it with solar res and moving to another screw hole. Good going for 3 days then kablooie. Is it feasible to go all out on a fibreglass or epoxy glassing job and get a decent result? Or am I just going to bust it out again in a few sessions...?? Glassing expert advice would be ideal. thanks all.

f yeah re-glass. why not? better than nothing yeah, even if it only lasts half a dozen sessions.
i creased a crap LF twin tip at the front footstrap, repaired it only to crease it at the rear footstrap a few kites later.
builds a few skills at least, and time in the shed is better than time in front of the telly!?

take some measurements or make a template from your other inserts using a piece of mdf or ply, fully exspose the dodgy area removing all loose material, going wider will help, also make sure the new fill has a key to get a grip, refill with a quality 2pack either setting in wet or doing it in 2 steps with drilling and setting in new inserts in the fill either wet or dry, plenty of snowboard websites for your inserts

'a key to get grip...' are we talking about a good meshing of old existing and new material ie leave the edge of the hole i cut out with plenty of roughed up bits to make a good bond..? i am thinking to chop out an area the size of a pack of cards but leave the bottom skin intact. then reseat the threadnuts bits ( as they are still fine no damage to thread etc) and then dry layer up some glass into the area with plenty of meshing in at the edges and finally doing a fill pour in of the resin.

yes i think some snowboarding workshop vids and searches may provide plenty knowledge to equip me for this challenge.

flick some photos of original inserts, just some offer better resistance and grip to fillers, as for key for bonding new to old, multiple 3/8 holes drilled around the site at varied angles will help

I just had this happen to me. Firstly I put playdow in the plugs then filled it with epoxy, all under the wood, then got 2 clamps and 2 bit of wood ( wrapped the wood in glad wrap) than clamped down the wood onto the board and squeezing it all together, then left if for 2 days.

Secondly I undid the clamps and wood , got really ruff sandpaper and ruffed up the surface. Cut up 6 bits of glass and glassed it with epoxy. Leave for a few days then sand it down,then drill holes where the plugs are

The metal inserts are pressed into a moulded Polycarbonate block. The problem was that the Polycarbonate block does not bond to the resin so as the board flexes the laminate lifts and the block pulls out from the board. Polycarbonate sticks well to epoxy but the particular factory that built this board did not check the bond to the moulded block.
The only way to repair would be to sand back the area to about the size of a pack of cards sanding thru the plastic top foil. Resin will not stick to this foil. Then route a hole and epoxy in a new insert and block and glass over with fibre glass and epoxy. You could place a piece of plastic over the glass and press it down until the resin goes hard. I think your biggest issue will be finding an decent insert block...
What you are doing with resin ex etc is wasting time.

Given that im not doing this for the learning experience, im not bored and looking for a challenge, im not broke and this a necessity... im probably thinking someone with tools skills and ability to get it right first time... I might outsource. Although I am a bit torn, as I can see that I CAN do it, but a bunnings trip for tools etc and then doing it twice (as first time I will cock it up...) means Im not sure im up for it. it justs ****s me to throw out a near new board...
Anyone want to have a crack at it for cash?

Hi i can repair ya board no worries, cost u a carton plus materials? Just email me if you want to do it.....can't stand throwing a board into the landfill for the sake of a little repair

Using your texty thumbs for timing synchronization and some cunning 'appointments' slip out of work and drop board and all previously mentioned items off at a near cbd point... Point... Then you wait.

Your phone eventually buzzes and you must scamper back to the same point to retrieve board in above condition. Best fibreglassing job iv ever done!!!
