Don't be too sure of that, I have a Switch Nitro and I am not afraid to use it........

There is a wildcard rumour that Mark Jacobs might appear with the Nitro to add to the competition. He definitely goes big.

If PeterLynn lend me their New Aero I'll demo it for them in a big air comp.. that 7m was no slouch.

Rebel or Edge (flatter kites) will win if someone can throw down big board offs like Jeremie Tronet (with board flips, King of Deadman, etc)
C-kite will win if wind is strong (30++) and someone with big nuts starts throwing loops.

What do people think about how the big air should be judged?

Biggest boost?

Risk seems to be a big factor in king of the air.

Thanks Eppo, there isnt really a perfect beach for it in Gero like in Cape town, but Back beach seems the best compromise. It has good access from the car park and in case of medical emergency, good viewing from the lookout, the action is close to the beach, has decent kickers. Water safety is good with the Gero surf lifesaving club close by. Vendors can setup on grass or beach.

We will have to find the Back beach spot with the smoothest runways, kickers etc on the day, based on time, swell, sand banks, sea weed etc.
Might require a need a test pilot if youre offering? :)

1. Biggest Air - no tricks - just big as you can get, the safety aspect will ensure more people and Pros will participate, rather than wreck their world championship chances..
Also this will ensure continuing support for all us amateur noobs to have a go at it, who will actually be the majority travelling for the Company gear Demos on offer and buying stuff, accommodation, shops, alcohol etc

2. Biggest Tricks - The Pros or Newcomers can strut their stuff..

We Dont need to follow what others do - that will make it Unique to chilled out WA.
Weve all read about the risk factor and why pro riders "Wont enter"

its cool to see pro riders strut their stuff but im more keen to see unsponsered riders compete

I Think have 3 categories for big air Two quantifiable
Hieght and Time in the AIr for the not so young
And Hardest Trick for the pros and younger
Gives a good mix and if someone does something really special they can win all 3

If it cranking, 30 knots and above, I'd say a Vegas or similar, loaded 5 line, 9 mtr
possibly a 9 rebel
or 8 edge
if its 20/25 knots then I'd say an edge, rebel, nitro, core xr or gts something along them lines would have a chance

Back beach would be good but got a slight onshore factor depending on where you ride. Definitely worth looking at separation pt for the big air if there is some swell. Nice cross shore, smooth on the inside, some real nice kickers on the reef. Great viewing area on the hill and a reasonable amount of beach for setting up at the moment. Get permission to section off the lookout for judging and spono setups. Plenty of parking across the road at the maritime college. Fricken sweet as.

Seppo goes alright in 25-30

Had a mad session at seppos
on and edge, north coros goes big, I've been checking back beach, has great sections of flat water inside to get blistering speed, then some cracking ramps for take off
This is great though for our event, if one spots better then that's where we're at, we've 3/4 cracking spots all within a couple of klms

The highest risk trick competition may encourage participants to try more that they are comfortable with - potentially asking for a serious injury in my opinion. If it happens, it would not be a good start for a new event....

yeh over 45's don't stand a chance from the looks of it above .... not bad height there mick though and that reef below is scarily sharp!!!

Vegas (or any proper C) in the right hands should get the biggest air. Those nitro's do go big too though!

45, feeling ok for a 50 year old, backers beach has some great ramps for take off, if the winds going nuts im sure we will see some big ones, i checked it out a couple of days ago close to 30knts, looked the goods and some good looking waves north and south along the beach for the waves comp, surprised with the volume of wind
