general discolouration is normal
the manufacturers were supplied with wrong type of material , just contact your local supplier of ozone kites, they'll organise replacement

Doesnt say what year of make is affected. I just bought a new bar + lines last weekend, hope it's ok!

Just get a replacement, or have a check every now n then, it won't happen over night

Yeah get a replacement bar, I'd go for a slingshot bar and just be done with it and have confidence in the gear you use. They don't cut corners and back their gear so you can enjoy kitesurfing ??????

The bars ive got show no sign of corrosion on the release tab,

However the dumb asses at ozone are still using normal steel magnets on the depower clam cleat, absolutely unneccessary and see result below, the steel corrodes, swells and breaks through, messy, untidy, VELCRO would solve the problem, I love my ozone kites and bars but ............

"Magnetic trim handle system - The Magnetic trim handle connects to a magnetic neoprene sock covering the clam cleat to reduce tangles when the trimmer is depowered"

They should be replacing all these clam cleats free of charge, anyone else have same problem ?

The delivery of faulty parts was traced back to Jan 2017, and the affected parts would have filtered out to dealers over the following several weeks, and from dealers would have been sold on to customers from around March to May approx.
In the worst case scenario the chicken loop retainer will break under load and your kite will flag out.
I've had the first one reported to me this week, the owner was still using the bar even though the metal at the end of the PU had actually broken in 2 pieces.

The affected chicken loops will be obvious though even with a casual look, and I have parts available to send. It is a 2 minute job to replace with a new PU.

@Surfer62 - Thanks for posting the UK link, its also on the Australian page, the Facebook page, and the main Ozone site. Your bar is an old one, we have not sold that style of bar for at least 2 years now (going on 3 soon) Ozone has changed the magnet composition with the introduction of the soft ended bars in 2015. I agree the swelled magnets look unsightly but they still work ok yeah? Velcro has its own issues, as well as picking up all sorts of rubbish from the beach and not catching the free end of the trimmer line like the magnets do.

There is very strict and thorough QC and testing of inventory at the Ozone factory, thats why we can trace the batch back to a specific time. This is a very rare slip up from Ozone and we are very sorry for the inconvenience caused to some of our customers.

What about faulty bar ends that just come off and then wreck a whole line set as does happen.. Are they replaced under warranty for faulty products or do the likes of ozone customer's have to wear that? Just wondering... Cause it could end in disaster besides a new bar n line's.

Whats the go, is this a beat up Ozone thread again?
I have never seen a problem with any of the soft end bars produced over the last 2.5 years.
The previous hard end bars, were all load tested to well beyond what a kiter could reasonably exert (the new soft ended bars are too). People can break stuff, and accidents do happen.

still on my first bar and lines that came with 1st catalyst, my ones with the instinct sport are still going strong with a local i sold them to, never wash them , just chuck them in a bucket till next time, never checked my magnets as its not that important in my kiting sessions, personally i class the ozones as one of the best bar n line sets on the market

Yep that bar in pic is about 2 years old, 2 seasons use, but ive also got a new soft end bar less than 6 months old and the magnets have started to rust n swell. Maybe our cold vic water is extra salty. Your comment about velcro collecting rubbish from the beach is rubbish.

Stop being defensive and as an agent try and get a change instead of making dumb excuses. If you read my post i clearly say i love the ozone kites and bars, i also use the ozone bars on wainman and naish kites because i like the simplicity of the ozone bar so much.

Ps, i posted the uk link after cauncy posted the uk link for the edge video, thats why i found it there, maybe you could have been a bit pro active and posted it yourself when you first got notified as a safety check for us.

Ozone and myself posted the bar corrosion info far and wide, it found its way here within 48hrs. I simply forgot about the forums, sorry.
Send me a pic of your swelling magnets on the 6 months old bar - steve@ozonekites.com.au and I'll sort it out.

What you are labeling as defensive is just me trying to explain that Ozone does take every single component of their kites, paragliders, and wing suits very seriously. They have always sorted out their customers when they have stuffed up.

Posted far and wide ? Im not into fb or far and wide, it found its way here within 48 because i put it here and after that savethewhales put it on kiteforum. If i wasnt interested in cauncys uk edge post I would have never seen it.

As for the rusty magnets, I've already cut them out of my newest bar before the rust leached out onto the lines.

If you have replacement clam cleats with non rusting magnets, id appreciate four, one for each of my ozone bars.

Hand on heart I've witnessed huge failures on plenty of bars, core, best, north (all mine are crap)switch, cabrinahs, flexifoils which makes this little mishap look trivial in comparison , Carnt remember any getting the flack the unjustified flack which ozone seem to be getting and Carnt remember any doing a public recall and replacing free of charge,
This is the Velcro of which is mentioned ( another brand), it builds up with debris and doesn't hold anymore, Carnt be arsed cleaning as I find it unimportant when riding

every material and component without a single issue, not forgetting we use it in some of the harshest environments , after 15 years of boat ownership I still haven't found a stainless that won't corode to a point

Thats why its called stain-less steel not stainproof ??

Interesting to see only the magnets on the end of your trim line have swollen through rusting and not on the cleat ? You must have a combination of rustless magnets on tbe trim line end and rustproof magnets on the cleat ! Is that an old 2 yr old bar or a new soft end bar ?

Give me a ozone bar over any other regardless
