Picked up a couple of old school North Rhinos's just for sh**s and giggles.

Anyone recognise what year they are from?








They are both in very good condition give or take a little mildew. The sail cloth seems firm and I cannot find any rips or even pin holes.

As for the bar obviously it has no quick release so I'm thinking I might just use one of my Ozone bars instead. Pretty sure as long as all 4 lines are the same length then it shouldn't be a problem. Anyone see any issues with that?

Pretty sure it's actually the 2001 model. Which in my opinion was pretty ****e. 2002 was a lot better, you should get a 20m.p.s. Honestly though anything before or other than the 2004 SS Fuel is pretty much total crap to ride.

Please video any attempt at an outing and share - will be interesting to understand what we didn't have to deal with for those of us that began kiting after 2006!!!

the bar should work but pretty sure the front line release will see it spin in like a propellor.

yeah 2001, mate had one back then, good boost for an old kite, i have always had the opinion that the old school "c's" were the best for learning wakestyle

dont use the bar as those plastic buckles on the steering leader lines used to break, dropping the steering line then kite would death spiral down wind

Yup 2001, ok kite tones of pull and as long as you edge. Still have my 20m tractor but I,m too girly and limp waisted from riding depowered kites these days.

Real men kited in real old-school kites. The new kites these days - fancy toys if you ask me. They are too easy to ride and give much more room for error and accidents. All those jumps you see them do on the beach - piece of cake. Try and do a 720 upside-down back roll with a 360 twist in an old-school kite.

That's correct loftywinds. It's a pity cause it people used to
learn alot using kites that require skill and fine tuning. I can't remember anyone I learnt to kite with bitchin. Everyone was
just stoked to get out and try. No matter what type of kite,2 or
4 line.

Owned four of those in various sizes, back in the day...The leading edge will be guaranteed to blow in the first time of two you pump it up. Good float, bars were dodgy--safety release diabolical, build quality crap; you get about 30cm of depower only so if you plan to ride them, you have to know how to edge. Still, it was pretty much all we knew and we had a load of fun on them.
