Hi Peeps,

After almost 18 years, today, I was reunited with my old LF Picklefork. I sold this board to a guy on the Sunshine Coast in about 2002/3. Simon has kept the board for all this time and a couple months ago advertised it for sale.

By pure, unbelievable chance, I was talking to my staff about the "good old days" of riding 2-line kites and Picklefork boards. Cam searches for images, and behold, there is my board.

Cut it a long story short, I swapped some Pineapples for my board and it has returned to me. I'm extremely stoked to get it back and am planning on riding it with an old 2002 WIPIKA Freeair I also purchased. I'll fly it as a 2-line on my old Airush "Pulley-bar".

All I need now is a pair of navy and yellow Jetpilot long pants and it'll be back to the future time. Yeeeewww

So happy! ??????

Retro Day anyone? Bring out your pre 2007 kites and boards for a nostalgic day on the water.

DM

I sometimes wonder if retro and ugly go hand in hand.

I use an old 2002/2003 board every now and again for a laugh and nostalgia. Yep, I remember the kite pants too. Just because you could vs windsurfing. Glad they vanished as fast as they came in though. I have an old Naish hazmat. Its tiny for me and super skatey. I can't believe for a year that was my only board. Plus an old mutant. That board is actually not that terrible. Bad, but not terrible. I snapped a directional I had from 2002 too this summer. Similar story about being parted with it. Except it was a mate who ended up just dumping it back round my house.

They were even called pickleforks? About as nostalgic as an old nuclear reactor plant. Hang it up with the wooden skis.

Don't even feel slightly nostalgic for a 2007 Switchblade even if presented as new.

Nice one Darren. Good to see a LF picklefork is still alive. I went through 3 of those, before the warranty ran out
When LF released that board it really was a game changer.
I ll be up for a retro day. I've still got 4m wipika classic that needs an excuse to be used.

My original first kite specific board I had back in 2002, before this we used windsurfer boards. Still use it today as a light wind speed board because it has little rocker and is relatively thin. In 12 - 15 knots is a real nice directional blaster for cruising around as it goes fast but no good for waves or turns.

Just some retro nit picking, but the pulley bar only works on 4 lines. As I sadly remember.
im still using my 2001 wipika pilot seat harness and 2005 125x39 TT( cause I'm too lazy to bolt hardware back on my 2013 Zeeko TT after last September's WA holiday.

Yep, i had the 6 foot, OR 6'6" or something. 3 foot straps so gybed like a windsurfer. But couldn't go toeside. Didn't stay up wind well either. Apparently surfboards were dead though after this as wakeboards were coming being used.

Those belong to me ya thief!
That red picklefork is the stiffest board I have ever seen or ridden, it has absolutely ZERO flex. It has the Airush brand, but also "Starboard - Kite division" on it, and those extra special pads and straps. The LF picklefork is in VGC too, I have not ridden this one, its far too valuable! ;-)

Just hunting through some of our gear in preparation for our closing down sale on Saturday and I found the board in this picture from 2000.

We opened Airborne Kitesurfing in January 2000, the first Kitsurfing shop in WA, 19 years and 4 months later it has been a super hard decision to close it down.

So do I try and sell the board Saturday or keep it as a memento?

Wow 8kn ??
Somebody better tell the foilers to go get 2000 vintage gear

With all this old talk, I'm wondering who Loto will turn his abuse to now? Maybe canadian canoes, yachts or longboards now that kiting is not apparently so new....

Here are some absolute classics from 1999 to 2001, getting them ready for our Closing Down Sale on Saturday.

2001 Starboard / Airush 6'6", MUCH better than the 2000 board, had a lot of fun racing this board back then, Safety Bay, Lancelin, etc.
2000 WipiKa Classic 6.5, (projected size) we sold heaps of these our most popular kite by far in 2000. This kite is unused and even has the original bar code with a price of $1,565.
2000 or 2001 Davinci 5.0 (projected size) VERY scary kite, never sold any unique kite
200? Flying objects twin tip, we got a few of these made by Wade Freeman until Airush cam out with a twin tip .

All will be for sale on Saturday at our Closing Down Sale. www.facebook.com/events/346201456253877/

Nice one D. Kitepants will be a must in riding this old gear. Love the 'Nice' sandal bindings still on the picklefork too. Had a pair of those too destroyed them 18 years ago. Would love to get my hands on a early model 2 line kite again just for nostalgia value. Make sure you get some photos- you may have to wait till next summer being in WA.
