Hi all,
Hit the reef on the Twinnie and put quite a deep gouge in the bottom. I have been reading up on kiteboard repairs and have come to the conclusion that epoxy is best.

Just wondering which type? Is aeraldite ok or do I need to use a specific water proof epoxy? Any advise is appreciated.

Anything that is marine grade. Clear is good. Make sure you dry the gouge out REALLY well first. Like leave it in a dry place for a week or in a bag of rice for ages. Don't want your board to swell.

Thanks mate good advise. I bought some epoxy but might hunt around for a better marine grade.

Most surf or kite shops will sell you some good stuff

The board is a cabrinha Tronic...it has a basalt laminate. Not sure if that changes anything. Don't know too much about that sort of thing

I've tried a few different epoxies and always go back to west epoxy.
cheaper ones from ebay seem to just be harder to gauge work time and hardener volumes.
I have some west epoxy with clear hardener left over from kite board i can send for minimal amount.
I also have some carbon fibre you could look at cutting up fine and maybe under fill then use more to
fill to right level.
from pic you will need black tint and i have used black cement oxid often which works well.
you will always see the repair even if coloured black.

Thanks mate appreciate the generosity. I did a repair with epoxy resin and it looks mint. Seems to have worked just fine. All I need is to match the paint now

Colour it in with black marker and get back on the water for tomorrow's carnage!

Cheers all for the advise. Here's how it came up, not too bad. Good enough for me anyway, hopefully it's nice and watertight that's all that matters!
