G'day all.

My google-fu isn't getting me results at the moment, so I'm hoping someone can help out with what seems to be a simple search, but isn't proving to be.

Does anyone know where I can find images showing the different front profile shapes for the different styles of kites (looking at the kite dead on from the front)?

I'm curious on how the different arc shapes compare.

Cheers

But seriously,
various C kites and hybrids:
1,2 and 4,6 are bandits (hybrid delta), 3rd is a Best C kite(gp maybe), and 5th is a slingshot fuel, (proper C kite)

Here are some Race kites: pretty much the most bow shape you will get

here are some more, slingshot seemed to be the easiest to find in Google images.
Best TS:

Slingshot RPM:

Slingshot Rally:

Another Best C GP

Hope this helps, all found on google images

That's pretty funny, I probably would have laughed at that when I was 10.

Just curiosity, not planning on making any, it seems like a pretty cut throat industry to me.

I'm a draftie, designer etc, I like to know how things work, geometry is part of that interest.
Frankly I'm surprised I haven't been able to find a comparison chart showing all of the different kite styles side by side.
Unless the diagram I found above covers them all. I would have thought bow kites are missing off that chart?

Here is a tip, the online renders are not the same as the actual final kites via profile and shape, profile can change depending on kite size, a 17m will be different to a 5m profile. I have experimented with profiles for about 7 years, the height, distance from front, amount of profile from center of kite to tips, angle the profile attaches to the leading edge all changes everything else.

Let me know if there is something in particular I may be able to help with.

Kite designer does know his stuff. He has built some pretty damn good kites. And he loves to tinker around with ideas. It's always nice to keep an open mind

By far the weirdest kite I ever designed in the history of the universe is The 4 angled only leading edge sigma bat kite 5m, looks unique and works great.

Worked great first proto, think of a sigma kite with only 4 angles on the leading edge, the aim was to make the easiest to make kite with fewest panels and sewing that worked great as part of a make your own kite kit at the most affordable price for low income countries like for example Russia. ( for about $90 to $250 you could make your own inflatable with a common sewing machine and aftermarket bladders and plans you can print on your printer and download from the internet.

The Russians used incontinence hospital bed spreads and hospital enema kits to make the bladders and one pump system and an Iron and wax paper to seal the bladders + Taiwan cloth. Russians are awesome when they are not invading other countries with what they come up with... So yeah the hospital incontinence bed cover enema tube + clips kite is by far the weirdest kite ever designed....
