evening folks!

Put my kite in a blender recently.
Luckily the LE held up and bladder didn't pop. A couple of bucks saved there, I suppose.

Just wondering what to expect from my kite afterwards as this is a major repair!

kite is torn from TE right through canopy to the LE. Canopy also torn from LE approx 10-20cm.

I know a small tears and pinholes are no issue, but with a major repair like this, is there anything i should expect?

kite warping?
canopy ripping from LE again under stress?
anybody had a repair like this done?
advice?
prayers for my kite surgery?

thanks.

A good repairer and you won't have an issue, I've seen some completely in half and when fixed looked fine but importantly flew the same, moti levy did a core kite and htl did a ozone

thanks mick.was going to send it to Moti, but it wasn't a bladder blow out, so its a long way to send a kite when i have a sail maker a couple of blocks away.

should i treat it any different or can i keep thrashing it!

this is why i dont buy "new" kites!!

Recently had a kite repaired by Jesper in Oconner. Thought the kite was cactus 8 or 9 tears and holes only took him two, days and kite flies as good as b4 . Have also seen kite repairs from Neil in Fremantle excellent work don't hesitate to try them they work

I once split a kite from trailing edge to leading edge on its second flight, I was devastated, took it to Neil (hold the line kites) and had it repaired.
Thrashed that kite for a couple of years after the repair and it flew as good as new till I sold it.
If it is repaired right you will never know any different, get it repaired and thrash that thing.

they charge by the hour so they're cheap as chips
they do kites on thursdays
so put your kite in today and you'll get it back thursday or friday.

Been thrashing my repair for a year, you'd never know it's there

+1 for horizonsails.
had a full tear from tip to LE, cost me $150 I think and was ready the next day.
Would have been cheaper if I removed bladder and cleaned the sand off first :)

i shredded my 12 on a fence a couple years back and it still rides well. if anything the bar and lines need replacing before the kite. perhaps the only risk is bridle stretch.

Crashed my kite pretty hard a few months ago, got a rip from leading edge to trailing edge and then all the way to the struts along that dacron strip.
Sent it to Moti Levy and got it back a couple days later. It still flies the same and he even repaired the bag for free as well!

Saw a guy last month riding an old kite of mine that was ripped from TE to LE in Feb 2011 and it still looked alright in the air.. And it's had 4 seasons since... Just done by a local sail maker.. Was around $100

Kites seem to be outlasting their bridles and lines. Is there anyone out there who makes replacements? Unfortunately there don't seem to be original spares available in the shops after a few years which is when you really need them...
