If there's any bigger kiters around I started a fb page called Hundy plus kiters. I just wanted to get a group of similar kiters to see what gear big boys are using and so on.

Meh, I've been rocking the Speed3 15 a lot recently, on a 140 TT and the 5'10" Dialer, and having a better time than the little fellows on directionals and 12m kites...

Cool very interested I just joined the forum and looking at getting some lessons and gear. Can someone recommend a board size for tall noob weighing 120-125 kg?

-12m Core XR3 that i don't even pump up unless it's 20kn.
-146cm airush switch but if you have big feet like i do (16's) check the footpads fit first.
-XL Ion Apex select harness
-goal of 1 x 220kg squat on christmas morning then increase the cardio so i drop to 115kgs.
-bourbon or captain morgan or kraken because beer tastes like cats piss

... hahaha touché my good man,,,, you are correct on all but one (the cat p!ss bit),,,, I retract my FULL STOP and edit in burbon & Kraken (yum) too,,,,, now FULL STOP!

Here is my Hundy Plus application data:

- kiting since 2003
- 125 to 130 kg (depends on the amount of kiting I get)
- 6'4" with size 13 hooves
- Prolimits XL seat (with leg straps loose so rides kind of like a waist harness)
- North 2015/2016 Dyno 18m (light to medium winds ~ 10 - 25 knots) Bread and butter kite for me!
- North Rebel 2014 14m (medium to strong winds ~ 18 - 30 knots)
- North Rebel 2012 12m (my strong wind kite ~ 25 plus knots)
- Nugget 5'5" directional (bread and butter board)
- North WAM 6'2" surfboard (my high wind directional)
- Cyclone 6'0" surfboard (my crazy "cyclone" condition directional)
- Underground FLX 144 x 46cm (rarely use now but great for the big boys)
- North Sky Team Series 138 x 42cm (nice stiff board that doesn't bend when it gets "cyclone" crazy winds)

All the equipment listed is good stable stuff for the larger gentlemen and can handle being pushed around a bit,,,, being stable is a big thing for us bigger chaps so you can push all you like when your in the mood to do so!

Great thanks guys, really really good info! Gorilla and proud! So first kite im looking at a 14m atm for first kite on the gold coast broadwater. However will be grabbing lessons first. Any good instructors anyone can recommend for the gc willing to travel if I have to.

Get a 3m trainer kite and practice ur kite control. . . Saves time/money and gives you better kite skills. . . . Faster transition

Yeah ive read that will do does 4 or 2 string matter? Also anyone know good places to buy kitesurfing gear in southest qld or online? (Actually stocks gear to suit big guys that you can buy/try on)
Also worth hitting cable ski park a bit to work on board skills??
Looking at the bigger boards like 150-160 x 46-48

Surffx in Southport will short you out with gear.

You've also got to remember that while kiteshops are the experts, most gear is made to suit blokes 50kg lighter and what works great for an 75kg bloke might be way different for a bloke who is 50kgs heavier. The kite has to generate a lot of power to pull 125kgs out of the water and some kites will fold easily so demo kites first.

Harnesses are another area where it pays to look around. Try all harnesses, not just brands. Ie the 2015 Ikon Apex Select in XL fits me fine but the 2015 Apex in XL doesn't come close. I'd love the short harnesses and whilst they would fit my waist, they won't fit over my thighs.

Boards are not so much of an issue as you can sell them fairly easily if you don't like it.

2 line is fine (airush or ozone) . . . . Practice figure 8s and understand the power and neutral zones. Then draw squares and circles both ways in the sky. . . . 10 to 15 hrs. . . . Help me immensely. . . . .

Yep spot on, another big thing to think about is your lines and bridal. When your looking into buying a kite, it's a good idea to ask about the weight load on the lines, and what to expect. Lines and bridels do have a tendency to stretch, especially for us fuller figured fellas, and you can multiply that if your dumping it in the water. Even kitelooping can stretch 'em. Also ask if about bridel replacements.

Lycra should only be made to fit chicks size 10 max, it's not a good look, same with fat cyclists and kiters in wetsuits,(bad pr for the sport)??

Bad pr eh Cauncy.. there are significantly more kiters in their 40's and 50's wearing helmets, reel leashes and floatation aids who get puffed pumping up a 10m kite, let alone being unable to swim 100m, than there are super heavy kiters

for a cheap 2 line just get a stunt kite from a toy shop ~$20-30
