How do you attach a GoPro to a kite?
Do you just put the wrist strap on the centre strut or does it slide around?

Inspired by this bloke he has some absolute crackers (including the famous dolphin one)

I use a wrist cam and attach it to the strut. Works okay, but I prefer line mount shots. Unless you have a different lens which I only have the stock one on a Hero 3

Hi, Wishy, Years back a kiter started posting his surfing shots (Pre-Gopro!!) -- Because he used a waterproof standard camera with the lense on a good focal length for him on the surf board his shots where G8 (Olympus??). Due to interest his design to hold camera was modified to be factory produced - the SB shop used to sell the "Cam Rig" (I just checked - not offered anymore)...
Laurie might still have some.
A custom built soft plastic box designed to take a range of the waterproof action cameras - so holes for buttons and your bigger lenses and ok for the compact action camera. It has fairly long adjustable arms w. velcro to go around kite centre (or other strut).

Dafish is on the money - without a good lense - so a camera with a variable focus or a newish smart phone with all the camera magic the software provides..on 20+metre lines has a huge area in-frame..
This shot is using the original Gopro hero from 2012 ish so very fish eyed - the Heros have improved their resolution and lenses since..

So line mount camera holders are better especially for video at focusing on the rider..
Cheers
AP

I tried out my line mount for the first time today, got some pretty good footage.
Pinnaroo Point 1045 today (Friday), I think around 9-10 knots max.
Surf, Wind & Sun line mount, Go pro hero 5 black, Switch Helium 3 12mtr

I just got the same line mount for a Christmas present and wondering how far up to run it without effecting bridle geometry. The other issue I had on first use was looping the kite. I loop a lot and sometimes it felt odd if the lines spun and got a little hung up on the steering lines due to the position of the mount

Yeah, I was not sure about that either, I think that I maybe had it a little high as the lines would have been trying to pull it apart if you know what I mean, however, it was very light wind so it wouldn't have had to much force on it.
The Switch bar and lines that I was using has the ability to make a high Y point, you can see the thicker line at the top of the picture where you can join the front lines.
I mounted it above that thinking that the thicker line there would stop it sliding down but I doubt it would slide anyway, it's fairly well locked in.

I might try creating the higher Y point next time and then just put the mount above that.

I often downloop through the turns when foiling in light wind and got to admit I was a bit concerned about lines getting snagged the first couple of times but all seemed ok.

I made a mount for kite myself Wishy so I could have the wide angle facing along the wave rather than across it ( it also keeps the tips of the kite out of the picture ) . I also purchased a Surf Wind and Sun line mount and put it about 3 metres up from bar GoPro hero 6 on Superview mode . I really think the line mount gives the best angles.
