In the market for a new leash. One which can stand up to my countless missed tricks without the carabiner bending out. One which doesn't have a carabiner for the harness attachment.

Need some confidence I'm not going to surface and see my kite heading off into the wide blue yonder.

Can anyone recommend a good one?

Not sure if there is a perfect leash yet, however from my experience I've found that north leashes will detach themselves if you look at them wrong, Naish leashes snap. Mystic leashes don't last, as the neoprene stretches and becomes too long then snaps.
i have been using a wainman leash for over two years now, and it hasn't let go yet. It is however looking a bit tatty and I removed the caribiner and looped the end of the rope through a ring on my harness.

Recently got an ion leash more for how soft it was. North and Naish leashes give the arm pits a fair flogging. Hasn't bent yet but been boosting conditions lately and haven't unhooked much with it.

Been happy with this one for couple seasons so far (unhooking all the time): www.ion-products.com/water/kiteboarding/accessories/leashes/handlepass-leash-20-comp/

I injected silicone within the release handle to prevent unwanted releases, and it's never accidentally released since then (as per someone's suggestion). Now I can crash and roll without having to worry about chasing my kite down the road. I don't know how easy (or possible) it would be to actually release it if you ever needed to. But never had to do that ever in 10 years.

iv been making my own for a wile now out of bits of old leashes. the main rope bit is the best gp leash, the rope is the awsome. get onto that, but the release is terrible so i run a north release, and i run a slingshot hook. worth a look at the best leash tho

Thanks guys for the replies. I was about to buy an Ion one the other day but since they are essentially North was put off with the releases being hair trigger like (I've had a North one). Although the silicone idea could be a solution..

I had a few slingy ones and used to duct tape the bottom end of the release handle to the stopper ball to stop those things releasing.

I've got quite a few dead ones of varying brands. So I think I'll have to see what I can whip up from them. PITA though.. would be nice to simply buy a worthy one and spend that time retro fitting doing something else.. I've hardly kited this summer and when I do find a moment, its like.. fark I need a decent leash!

Mystic one is good but the carabiner bends quite easily

Ive got the Ion one now and its performing pretty well with no issues yet

NP has a pretty heavy Carabiner on it which looks to be the goods also
