Good evening viewers,heading to Bali in mid october probably heading up to Balian area to escape the crowds and wondering if its worth packing a kite as well for that time of year,taking two boards to surf and will pack kite if theres a good chance of wind,haven't been back to Bali since 1987 so not sure how good it is on the kiting front,not really interested in kiting flat water,not against it just that I'm a surfer and ****house on a twin tip.

That late in the season the chances are slim to have some decent wind in Bali. You might want to head over to Sumbawa (Lakeys) if you have the time and opportunity?

Let's face it, you get what you pay for in life and Bali is no different. It's far from the cleanest place (even the other parts of the island are dirty), the locals have become greedier and the bogans and Russians have gotten worse.

However, the great news is there's another 18,000 Indonesian islands to explore. The possibilities are endless.

Yes Bali can be dirty in parts but the surf is still as good as ever so it is still worth visiting.
I'm guessing if Haydn has even been there he hasn't ventured far from Kuta.
I wouldn't bother with a kite in October though.

I guess you think you have a right to your opinion but in years to come you might realise you have stepped over the line when giving your opinion about something you clearly have no basis of information except maybe a couple of places in Indo . Show some respect fella.

Have stayed at Balian twice have had good wave kites there with 10 m ' last time 4 days out of 5 the food is great and also Villas but I went mid August so not sure on October ,as above check with Jankie

oct is a waste of time for kiting Bali mate, although possibly something at the gilis, as they get some southerly winds late in the season. otherwise may be worth contacting the dude from Bangsring breeze if you are up for the extra travel?

There's problem a dozen "other" Mentawi's that no ones ever come across yet

But just quietly, avoid Bintan and Batam. Theres a week of my life i'll never get back!

I guess it's the less people going back part that appeals to me.

Over the years there you learn to not notice so much. Deal with or avoid the bad stuff. Accept there's some sketchy stuff and still enjoy the benefits. The good things tend to stand out in the end.

Everyone's different but I just think of the bukit peninsula this time o year and I wouldn't mind waking up on that stretch today. Banana pancakes and a few backside barrels sounds alright to me.

Unfortunately there's only 1 mentawais but that's another story altogether. I thought this thread was about Bali..

You can go to Gili and North West Bali, strong wind but only flattish water.
