Does anyone else have the NP Gide foil?
I've had mine with L & M wing set for about 4 month's now, my main focas has been on prone surfing but had it out plenty of times in light wind with my 8m Drifter & have been really happy with my purchase.

Being an Alu/Carbon build you need to maintain it.

Love mine. Got a Small wing front and rear. Only kiting it so far but look forward to getting a larger wing to prone surf it
Have recently gone from a 650 to 850 mast to eliminate breaching in larger ocean chop, and so I can bank turns a bit harder without throwing a wing tip out and scaring the s@&t out of myself
From a beginners point of view it has helped my progression massively
It needs very little power to get going, turns great, and has a decent top speed without being too scary
Mine is attached to a Cabrinha X-Breed 5'3, and mostly flying a Gaastra IQ 7m

How does the X-Breed go as a kite surfboard (without the foil) ?
I've been kite-foiling my prone board (37L) & thinking of getting a crossover board with less volume, just for kiting.

Also, I'm surprised the NP Glide has not been mentioned in the kite-foiling section.
I,m no expert but know a bargain when I find one

Using the large Glide surf setup with rear wing tilted for less lift. Tons of lift still, so much I have back foot out to mid board. I really like the surfy feel and can cruise at a crawling pace. Thinking about adding the small front wing which I gather still has plenty of lift.

I also found the Large to have heaps of lift, possibly too much for kiting but it's great for prone/sup in tiny gutless waves.
The Small is all you may need if your only going to kite with it.

How do you rate it for carving and forward speed ( any of the wing sizes anyone has experience with)

For me carvability is the most important. Forward speed is less important but I still wouldn't want to feel like I am slugging around. Also speed is important for efficiency and the ability to handle solid swells.

I find both the L & M carve really well (with the Small stab), I think this could be due to the fuse being at optimum length.
I measured it up against my mates Axis foil that he has 920 & 750 wings & the NP Fuse is about 70mm shorter.
Another thing I compared the NP up against the Axis was price. Glide foil (65cm mast), inc L & M front wings + L & S stab was about the same price as I could get 1 complete Axis foil.
Not knocking the Axis but I was choosing between the two & glad I got the NP.

L front wing is 84cm
M - 75cm
S - ?

YB, I think you should be looking at the Small for solid swell.
I'm only a small wave foiler & get the surfboard out in solid conditions.

Thanks mate! I have also noticed that a neil Pryde set up with 2 wings comes in at the same price as the others with just 1 wing. From what I have hrahe the performance is as good or better as well!

Have you been kiting on yours? What do you think about about straight line speed? From what I hear it's pretty good. That's not the most important to me but it is great to be able to haul ass back up wind.

As far as foiling solid swells I haven't actually been doing that just yet but it would be good to know the option is there

I only kite on it when the swell/wind is too much or tides are wrong to prone (inside river mouth).

I was away working when the swell from Oma peaked but there's still plenty of swell now.

Buying the NP medium glyde and probably the xbreed. Thinking the 5'3" but they also have a 5'1" and 5'5". I am 80kg 6'0".?sounds like a great combo but any input appreciated on xbreed size and how it functions as a directional kiteboard. Anybody prone foil surfing with it ???

You may want to think twice before buying this. I used to have a convertible board and found they aren't good at anything.

Too heavy to make a nice directional.

Too much swing weight for a for a foil board.

The rocker on the tail is not ideal for a foilboard set up. If the manufacturer makes this area flat to accomodate the foil, then it won't be ideal as a surfboard....

If you are sold on the X-Breed, get the smallest/shortest one you can. My friend has one and while he likes it, I didn't enjoy it much. It has a domed (convex) deck which I don't like for foiling. I prefer a slightly concave or at least a flat deck when foiling. My friend has used it in waves and rates it highly as a surfboard. I think the 135 Double Agent board would be a better option as a pure foil board if you are committed to Cabrinha options.

I think the descion to be made is what is your main focas is & buy a board that will perform well in that area, any crossover is just a bonus.

Tossing up between small wing NP and Slingshot small infinity.
Just want to kite it at the moment.

My thoughts are Slingshot is very solid built, lots of locals have them and happy to lend masts etc...

The NP is much lighter and would be better to jump when I'm up to that stage

Anyone tried these back to back?

I've ridden both. I only had a short stint on the NP Glide and liked it, carvey and great lift (water starting straight onto the foil) but felt it was fairly slow - which is obviously not a negative in a surf foil. It also floated on it's side, so that could be a positive or a negative. I have read that your board can act as a sail and take the foil upwind in certain scenarios on foils that don't sink.

The Infinity 76 I demoed for about 90min and really loved the feel of this wing. Had amazing low end (I was on a 6m in about 12 - 15kts @ 80kg) and very good top end speed too. When I pushed the speed on this wing, I was surprised that it didn't require undue front pressure to keep it down but felt very controlled and comfortable going fast. It would be the wing I would choose for it's versatility. It may be slightly less carvey than the NP but still turns well. You can perform pivot turns at low speed and remain flying. Well worth demoing both if you can.

Someone in the NZ Facebook surf foil group folded a NP foil... Said the board for tumbled in waves.



Axis SUP setup is bulletproof too... Trust me

If you roll a foil in a decent shorey or heavy waves you are asking for a bending a mast, no matter which brand!
