Hey all, was out the other day and decided I would try and film my technique that I use for getting up on the foil in really light winds. I find it works really well with carving type foils. This method gets you up on the foil instantly. The great thing about foiling is there are actually very few days that I can't get out on the water. There is a certain joy in gliding around with little or no input from the kite. I am not much of a vid editor so please excuse the roughness of my work. People also wonder how you embed music with out copyright....it's easy....just do what I do and write, produce and play your own. Hope this clip is helpful.

Really cool vid and a great tune as well. So, you're a Whovian?

I always pull on my backhand to start the kite loop. I'll try the forward loop for starting next time I'm out.

yup, always a fan of time travel ;)
So do you hold your board on edge with your forward hand or are you using a strap?

I'm strapless and hold the board with my back hand if it's windy enough to not need to loop the kite to start. If it's marginal and a loop is needed, I'd swap to the front hand. Your way seems better though.

Indeed. Water clarity has been pretty epic lately and tons of sea life :)

Nice video !
I too have gone to the strapless option, after breaking 3 toes gybing on the foil.
But it is not easy, it's like learning again, I just need a different skills set to master the start, but once up and running its awsome.
I will give your idea a go when the wind is lighter.
Cheers
Steve
