Just wondering if it gets deep enough. I'm quite happy to put booties on and walk out 500m as long as it gets deep enough eventually. Anyone tried it?

Don't know, you might have to go for a walk and find out. I remember it being pretty shallow in my wind-surfing days.
Having said that, the local lake that I foil on these days is often not much more than waist deep, but I can foil that happily with a 70 cm mast. It's possible to get foiling before the foil goes completely vertical.

I go just around from boat launch.
Often windsurfers there.
Drift launch.
SE. so cross wind.
Walk out about 70m
The shoreline rock pops up for a toe stub about 20ms out
Take extra care with twigs when walking lines.
A few shallow bits opposite boat ramp about 250m out
So far all muddy and shells some sandy bits. Worst ihave walked into was crab pot about km out.

Wind can be fickle.
The yatch club has a Holfuy wind station website lake cootharaba
Tried pasting address but not working on phone.
Will post photo from pc tomorrow
I have 60 cm mast .
Because surface always choppy best session I have had was a few hundred meters out from upwind shoreline..
But that's 5kms upwind??

Cheers AP

BTW it was cold when took photo late June wind dropped after 20 minutes
Spent 45+ minutes getting back in just touching bottom about 2kms out.
If u are learning like me,
Suggest take spare leash to stop board buggering off in chop when wind is light and trying to relaunch kite

Thanks AP. Great info. Hope your foiling is going well!

I have booties, makes stepping on crab pots and shells and wrigglies less of an issue.
