Aquaplow... I used to windsurf years ago on lake boreen (on Holidays). Is it deep enough to Kite Foil? I would love to Holiday there and now I could kite in light winds and foil... Knowing the place where is the best place to camp and kite coming from Melbourne.

Hi.
a couple of posts to x-check
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Kitesurfing/Foiling/Anyone-foiled-Elanda-or-Boreen-points-www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Kitesurfing/South-East-Queensland/Deep-enough-to-foil-boreen-point-or-Elanda-the windsurfers are g8 bunch .. there was a big post on lake around Xmas on their forum..
watch for a couple of days.. it's gusty but might be bit exaggerated as heard weather station is on hatch club still = behind trees!!
holfuy.com/en/weather/894 there is a sister station seaward side of lake weyba useful if u go there.
I always drift launch as W/E / holidays sailing club takes out beach at Boreen point..
Friday social having a chat apparently the new owners of elanda point campsite have done a major refurb.. and started a microbrewery on-site... hmmm should re visit.. but in traditional SE it will be a PITA to walk upwind deep enough to foil. 6-700meters!!! Plus was gravely and Shelly..
KBGhost covered public site.. Way easier after permanents abandon when it flooded.. pretty site.. but Elanda was special when we stayed..
The lake depth...
I was running through the clay sludge about 4-500 meters out from SSE shore this arvo.. and it was no more than chest deep at best most all the way to boreen point. I run a 600 mast and every time I am skimming surface and slightly keeled over the foil wing tip was snagging so net depth would be around 850-900..
if you have good height control.. a non-issue..
A picture is worth 1000 words.. when get to PC will post zone. but in words... about 40% of lake..= The best area .. has sea grass on bottom and is around 2000+ depth.. mostly close to original river channel.. from Entrance to Everglades/Harry's hut end = north..2-300 meters out along sea side till probably 1 km past Teewah draw a square .. 40% of lake.
easy in SE to get to..
there's a SE Qld site guide QLD forum scroll down.. depends what you are looking for.. InSkip has camping and g8 potential.. Harvey Bay & Elliot heads too...
cheers
AP
