I have a 1012m block with no edging. If i put big mulched beds in i'll even need a border at the back of the beds as well to stop the mulch from spilling through the timber pailing fence. Anyone in the know what the least dodgy cheaper options are? It means I am up for a lot of edging....

Plants? I used to use those little purple ones (related to pinapples?) for a smaller border. They multiply really fast so you can 'grow' your border. Look real pertty too.

Rhoeo Spathacea Nana? No good if you have dogs

I used some of that small profile corrugated colour bond type edging - 200mm (bury half of it). It's very easy to install and looks good - easy to bend around garden beds and can be bent to 90 degrees for sharp corners. The amount of sweeping we have to do is about 1/5th of what it used to be - plus it stops the water run off too...

Not sure what you think is cheap. We have a ~800m2 block and did all the garden beds back and front, the vegie patch and around the pool... it was about $36 for a 6m length - from Bunnings. I think we spent about $900 all up - but very happy with the look and functionality of it.

Malthoid (dampcourse) fixed to existing fence along the back (comes in 20m rolls and various widths) - durable, waterproof & cheap. Used in construction to separate construction mediums to eliminate transfer of rot to timber & also used for damp proofing. Spend the $$$ on the edging that you can see.

Uses a recycled plastic and DIY placement anchors. I use it all the time, from cheaper builds to top notch if you want rusted steel etc.

I have used the off cuts from railway sleepers before which were great, not sure if you have acces to this or something simila!

Yeah I'm sure its ok in Melbourne etc. Mate had some in Atherton and they modify the lifetime warranty north of the tropic of Capricorn to 5 years and his barely made it.

Possibly a cheap brand, I did a cafe in Perth 12 years ago, actually sat there about 6 mths ago still looked smicko
There's huge voids in qualities of this stuff, some of the latest brands close over the fixings and is invisible to the eye, much easier than the older clip systems,
