Ive just got planning approval for my house project down on the harvey estuary and the first job off the start line is ro remove a couple of big tree branches that will be too close to the house pad. Im looking for a tree pruning operator that can get up in the air to cut a big horizontal branch that is 20metres above ground. rather than ringing around i thought Id ask the brains trust so i can ween out the cowboys from the start. . if your recommendation gets the job Im offering a crewing position on my 30' gaff schooner on the estuary later in the year
Im going to be hunting for plumbers and brickies in the near future too

Its the roots you need to worry about not the branches, I've built a few places that have had to be moved due to root volume we came across digging footings as for plumbing a good lad left here to relocate down Capel, msg me for his contact if you want,, not wanting to stress you But I'd dig a footing with a trenching bucket parallel to where house and trees run, about in between, and inspect, I've seen some crazy examples in the building game where roots get, in the search of a water source,

big sand pad going in, but a massive branch that extends way out.16" diameter at the cut point .. theres some tonnage up there. thereussd to be 2 branches but 1 of them dropped on a still night and powered a 2 day camp over when the neighbours towed it away with their tractor

All the arborist s I have meet where cowboys. What you want is one who is just the right amount stoned and not to $$$.

Can it do well with > 1m diameter log? I have few of those fallen trees monsters too big and heavy to cut.
I did considered two option:
a) lit a fire - could take few weeks to consume b) set few hungry termites on top- even longer
I wish something quicker could happen.

my big saw will crosscut about 1m , always interested in scoring a log or too if I can hook it out, Im trapped in Kalgoorlie for the time being but when i get to perth Im on the shop for a hair truck set up so I can start collecting a few logs

mate its got a sheok and banksia staircase leading up to a mezzanine bedroom with an amazingly comfortable queensize with goose down donnas. downstairs has a large scottish cast iron Range and stove. plenty of bench space. For me there is a bicycle rack above the kitchen for my roadies, vintage replica and fat bikes, kayak above the "lounge" My land yacht is packed up in the bedroom. I have a 4m workbench downstairs and most of the tools are living in nearby sea containers. seem to be accumulating a few sailing boats as well. the pics are during construction. finish is better now

Looking good mate. You're going to need those doonas in winter with no insulation.

And you'll need those holes in the roof during summer, with no insulation......

all the insulation and cladding for those walls and ceiling are sitting in a container waiting for me to get a permit to travel and go and put it in . i scrounged lots of builders skips for ends of rolls and wastage for some top quality stuff. in one skip the builders had dumped 2 unopened bags of wall insulation at the end of the job. when i sorted out all the colour bond roofing , framing offcuts and insulation from the skip they were happy cos the bin was nearly empty. it also meant I could get down to the half pallet of wall blocks which i have used for retaining walls.
the shed has 2 big roller doors so in summer I open them about 3pm and all the heat in the roof wafts out . by sunset its lovely up there and doona weather even in summer. . its only temporary though. Planning permission just came through for the house so I'm starting to get the ball rolling, if i can get a permit to travel
