Apparently the drive-in in Sydney has reopened.

Go figure. Everyone thought they were dead, but I guess how else can you now watch a movie around other people, but not?

Are there any other drive-ins in Aus? Not a drive-in bottleshop...

We have one that has never(?) closed in Perth, in Kingsley. I've taken the kids a couple of times and it's a bit of a novelty night out and I think you get 2 movies on the night?

Correct, they've been operating since 1973.

The outdoor cinema in East Perth is doggo friendly and i've seen the odd one at Camelot as well but i don't know if it's allowed.

The only other operating drive-in in WA is up at Dongara...

I remember sitting outside the fence at the one that was just off Marmion Ave in Hillarys (next to the old BMX track) in the very early 80's. It was a long time ago, but I have a vague memory that they used to show porn. There was a line of deck chairs on the Southern fence line and all the Sandman wagons were rocking and rolling

So the "drive- in" was what they called "Netflix and chill" , in the olden days ??

Yeah it was back in the days when you lived at your parents' house and had to go somewhere else for 'watching movies'.

What's that, you still live at your parents house? Yeah, it probably is the same then.

Our drive in at Dongara is very popular with locals and tourist, lucky to get in, pre corona they show a couple of times a week, run by volunteers and SLSC
Who do a great job, it's a great attraction and well used

I had a root in a VW Beetle in 1976 at the Grahamstown Drive in in South Africa.

The town is fog prone and it was common for the projectionist to ask drivers to start their engines to lift it.

It wasn't a memorable root!

When I was a young wipper snapper, you didn't go to the drive in to watch a movie.
