I see your 45kt gust and raise you. This day I was kiting at lake cootharaba, around 15kts, big kite. Came in, started cooking dinner at camp, next thing bang trees coming down everywhere around us, very scary stuff. Those who took shelter inside the main building and lost their tents & stuff for good. We held ours down by body weight but it wanted to fly. All we heard the next day were chainsaws.

Do you live nearby? Did it actually happen or was it bad data from the wind gauge?

Reason I'm asking is I thought I had the winner

That brings back memories of learning to kite at Boreen Point, not sure if I kited there on the day but remember driving in soon after & seeing all the trees down.
