Surfcoast Shire initiative:

What is it about ? Talking Bells - Tell Us Your vision.

Are you passionate about Bells? Then we want to hear from you.

The Bells Beach Community Visioning Taskforce has launched Talking Bells ? a process that seeks to develop a new community-backed vision for the future of the Bells Beach Surfing Recreation Reserve.

The taskforce is now asking:

What is your vision for the reserve?

What issues need to be addressed?

You can now log on to archive.oursay.org/surfcoast/bells to have your say and to vote on important issues ? wherever you are! The taskforce will cover the top five issues and more on Monday 31 March.

More extensive written submissions can also be lodged to Talking Bells, C-/ Surf Coast Shire Council, PO Box 350, Torquay, Victoria, 3228. Paper submissions must be lodged before Monday 24 March.

What's wrong with it? Do they want to extend the "swimming only" area? ; )

I think seeing as its such as popular break there should be some sort of ballot system put in place to reduce the crowds. Crew that want to surf there should have to register and be issued a sticker for their boards that allows them to surf maybe one month out of the year, The sticker can be transparent so you can still see your bluebird logo

Nah I think its more to do with all the buses full of tourists that pull up in coaches and campervans have picnics or whatever and leave all their rubbish behind...plus where the carparks are now is right on the cliff which is really a fragile part of the area and a nesting spot for a lot of native birds and stuff...they need to move the carpark I think and the toilet block and let nature have its way with the existing area...dunno how achievable that is

Well they (council) could put money where their mouths are and simply hire a worker to do more regular patrols of the beach and car-park, like Parks Vic do with Wilsons Prom. Otherwise leave Bells alone!
